Update: on account of his successful experimentation with managerial sackings roman has resorted to sacking and replacing managers at an exponential rate. It has been determined within the span of a few months he may have to resort to time travel to employ his next manger on account of the world's limited population!
I've always thought Benitez was one of the most overated managers. I cant see Chelsea doing better with the Spaniard. I'm not sure all the egos like Hazard will enjoy his rotation policy either.
Not a big fan of Benitez, but he is one of the best tacticians around and his presence in the Premiership will be welcomed. Only man missing is Moureen and we will have the full set...
Rafa is made to look like some sort of clown figure by the British press, but he has achieved some serious feats in the game. His Valencia team won the their league two years in a row ahead of Madrid and Barca, and that side played amazing football. With Liverpool he won the CL and got to another final. Also took them to the second place and as close to the title as they have come for bloody ages.
Of course. I don't remember any team convincingly beating his Liverpool teams. He was one of the few that had a good record against Maureen. His record against Fergy and Wenger was also very good. He was a bit unlucky not to win the Premiership when he got second place, they played some top football. It will be interesting to see what he does with this Chelsea side. He has some very good players at his disposal but will player power come into play with the older lot? Only time will tell.
They came second having only lost twice in the whole season. He's the only manager to ever not win the title after losing so few games - too many draws cost them. He's a good manager, portrayed very badly by the press. Kinda hoping he doesn't do very well though!!
Of course. He has his work cut out Chelsea. Their fans do not want him and his style management is not likely to go down well with certain members of the Chelsea team.
I thought RDM was a fantastic manager for Chelsea. The way he has handled the media storm surrounding Terry has shown he is a man of integrity. Also the guy won the CL for them which apparently was Romans most coveted trophy. Chelsea are embarrassing to the game in my opinion. Everything which emanates from their club seems to be filled with negativity. They had a man which brought back some integrity to their club and decided to sack him because of a bad run of games. The appointment of Benitez is just so laughable that it beggars belief. What a ****ing insult to RDM! I hope this bodes well for us as we seem to be getting some momentum back which is vital on the run up to Christmas.
Rafa will need time to succeed, half a season and he will be gone because Abrahamovic is such a fickle 12 year old girl
It will be interesting to see how Benitez does at Chelsea. I was never much of a fan of his when he was at Liverpool. They did have a fair amount of success, but I always had the impression it was despite him, rather than because of him. He had a great team, but a lot of it was assembled for him by Houllier, and yet they didn't get a lot of sustained success in the league. It will be interesting to see what he does with Chelsea, particularly without a defensive midfield of Xabi and Mascherano, or even one player close to being half of them. Hell he doesn't even have a Lucas. I do hope that Chelsea's luck has run out on them, with all this changing managers crap, racism bull**** and buying players willy nilly. Maybe I am jealous and just being silly, but it really doesn't feel right to me. I find it difficult to think that the players or owner, deserve to win. I genuinely wouldn't trade our philosophy for Chelsea's trophies, knowing that an owner like theirs would come with the deal. A lot of our fans, I know, would disagree with me, but I feel supporting a club (particularly if you don't live locally to it), is about selecting one which fits your philosophy in life, and that you can identify with, not just picking one that will win the most, at all costs. Like many modern people, I have lived in many places, and North London only for a fairly brief time. It may have been then that I cemented my love of the club, which I followed from an early age, but it has been the way that our club conducts its business that keeps me as a fan. I can endure many many years trophyless. I doubt I could endure more than a few seasons if our owner/club behaved like Chelsea do.
