Lambert walking is all over the place now.

Goes to show that despite their poor position (only a couple off us) Villa are still seen as a big club and the likes of Lambert and Martinez would consider leaving their respective clubs to move there shows that what ever their fans think Norwich and Wigan are small potatoes. Not saying QPR are massive (unlike Leeds) but I don't think there will be top calibre managers flocking to the land of twelve fingers clapping.

The instability can only work in our favour and I am more confident than ever of finishing above at least 6 teams next season.
 
Last time a manger walked hoping to get the Villa job Randy wouldn't have him because he didn't like the way he had treated his former club by walking out on them.

How things have changed.
 
I think PL is wrong to leave Norwich because Villa maybe a bigger fish but need a lot of new players and last i heard funds were not flowing. Sometimes these managers leave and end up sacked after 6 months.

If PL and BR get those jobs i can see a few players going to new clubs and other clubs taking players. nearly every interview i have heard from both swans and Norwich players they say how they play for the manager. That all changes now.

Funny last season it was us that had new chairman/players/disruption and both Swans and Norwich had good pre season preperation. I wonder how they will fair this season?
 
Really don't see what he gains be going to villa, surely he is better off staying at at Norwich.

I'd much rather villa went down than Norwich. Despite some of their nobs on here, I generally find them all right like BatterseaCanary.
 
TBH after last seasons fiasco I'd be quite happy for a 'normal' Summer of Cerny BS and leave the change of owners / managers / general air of chaos to someone else.

I want to spend my Summer relaxing, reading DT's predictions about a top 6 finish and grilling a decent line caught seabass over the coals in Spain

I just suggested on the Norwich board that McCarthy would be a perfect match for them and its all kicked off again...
 
Don't think there's any panic amongst us fans. If it really is true and he IS leaving, then best of luck to him and thanks for a wonderful three seasons. We will still have lots of good players and will be debt free this time next seasons, so even if we did somehow go down we'd still be in a good position.
 
It all depends on who you get in AND MORE IMPORTANTLY how quickly he takes up the reins. Its taken Vanilla weeks to even get this far. Without a decent pre-season and want away players looking to go with PL it could screw you over like it did for us this time last year.
 
I guess we should be reassured that MH's name has not even come up in respect to either of these 'big club' positions. I wonder if that's because has he made it plain that he's simply not available regardless of the opportunity or if he has annoyed anough of the football establishment so that he just doesn't get considered? Personally I think we need to see a full season under Hughes to decide if he is truly a top manager. Would people on here have taken Martinez, Lambert or Rodgers in preference to Hughes if the opportunity arose?

I can see it now. Sounds good. I want to spend 2 weeks away doing a bit of sea fishing and spending some warn nights in Cornwall and forget about all gossip and new signings.

As for Norwich SSN has just said that PL was frustrated with the board who were not going to give him money and wanted him to sell players so they could pay off debt. I thought the Grunt Hulk wanting to leave was connected to all this. So you can see why he wants out. I said last night (then got abuse) that he has taken them as far as he can. Unless they invest in some more players they will struggle. As for BR and Swans, he just wanted a big club and better players to try out his skills.

Mark Hughes will stay loyal to us because he sees it as a good project at QPR and of course he gets a lot of money, however if he does well for us and say the Man U job came up or something like that he would be off.

Some managers do well at certain clubs, take BR at Swans, he was great for them but rubbish at Watford and Reading. PL has done a top top job at Norwich but whose to say he will do as well at Villa?

I agree I would like MH to have more time. His cautiousness especially away games annoys me, and if he offloads Adel which I half expect, I for one will be well p*ssed off, but he managed just, to keep us up and his signings excite, so on balance better the miserable faced bast*rd we know than Lambert or Rodgers equally miserable faces, and even more cautious and boring teams. Of the 3 I'd take Martinez, I like the imagination in the way he got Wigan organised, the way they beat Arsenal was brilliant, and he seems to get them really fighting end of seasons. Neverthess, we shouldn't be changing managers so often, MH needs and just about deserves more time, if he keeps Adel!
 
I think Rodgers is living off one good season at Swansea and positive media noises.

Massive expectation at Liverpool. How long will they give him? Will he have to obtain a CL spot first time out?? Massive gamble for him and the club. He could take them lower than Dalglish initially IMO.

Lambert a different proposition. I reckon he'll be negotiating a massive (Sorry Ive gone over all Leeds) bonus on keeping them up and getting them back into the EL spots. He'll clear out the dead wood and reinvigorate them. He can only take them higher IMO
 
I think Lambert will do well at Villa - the best time to take over is when they appear to be struggling. Think Sunderland last year. I don't think AV have the same squad a that but they will have Bent coming back and seem to have a half decent youth policy. He is also a motivator and so will be able to get them firing.

Rodgers will struggle - he is a technician and will need a lot more time to get the Liverpool misfits playing his way (and they don't normally give the manager that).

In terms of us, this is good news - a struggling Villa would always be in the mix to survive but struggling Swansea and Norwich would be much liklier to finish below us.
 
The best thing is, this is exactly what he did to colchester, walked out on them after they beat Norwich 7-1 at CR.

Looks like they are getting a nice does of karma by him doing it again.
 
I heard last summer on SSN that Norwich are servicing massive debt and it was scheduled that the lion's share of repayment would coincide with their second season in the PL. It was essential they stayed up but perhaps they are more stretched than was first thought, suggests there could be a meltdown coming...

don't believe everything you see on TV. This is not true, as most of our debt is paid off, and will be fully paid by the end of next season, this is what our Chairman announced at the end of the season <ok>. Most fans would want the stability of the club first.
i think everyone is clutching at straws as we won't know why he has left until he talks.
