Brief update for those that are interested;
SQUIRE was due to run at Newmarket this Friday but we had him scoped on Monday and there was blood in his swab. Probably nothing serious and a week of antibiotics should put him right. He is having a week of light exercise. It could be that he was a little under the weather at Haydock or maybe I am clutching at straws. He will be spot on for his next outing.
BUZZ LIGHTYERE had a nice return at Windsor where he obviously really enjoyed himself. After that third run he has been allotted a mark of 62 by the handicapper which we feel is very fair and the sort of mark that will give him a very good chance in handicaps.
He is entered in a 0-65 at Brighton on Monday and will take up the engagement provided his work is up to scratch this week. If he runs there he must have half a chance of making the frame and is likely to be a decent price.

Apologies to anyone who lost money on Buzz at Brighton yesterday. It was a truly awful display to the point where Kieren Fox was asked by the stewards for an explanation. He reported back that the horse was hanging left throughout the race.
He looked a picture before the race with the racecourse paddock commentator mentioning twice how fit he looked and how taken he was with him. Buzz had done his best piece of work ever between Lingfield twelve days ago and Brighton yesterday so we felt we had every reason to be confident.
Something was clearly not right though as the performance was some way below the standard we had seen in his last two runs.
It is possible that he may be a horse that needs a bit of time between runs or maybe something will manifest itself to explain the poor performance. We know he is better than that so he will have a little rest before we try with him again. Yesterday was too bad to be true but maybe the handicapper will feel generous and give us a couple of pounds back. We should at least get a decent price next time if you haven’t lost faith.
Squire most probably runs at Newburys evening meeting next Thursday in a 10f handicap. Hopefully Havlin will be available.

I wouldn't be apologising mate, nobody is forced into the punt. I hope you find the answer as to why he performed below expectations. 
I know many disagreed last time Stick but I will say again I don't think he likes Brighton, although not to the extent that he is changing his legs etc, but he is not letting himself hit full stride, he looked different in his action than he had at Lingfield. I know Lingfield is also undulating but I feel in a slightly different way to Brighton, I cant put my finger on it any more precisely but I just think he is not suited to the course. I think he looks after himself at Brighton because of being distracted by what the ground is doing underneath him. I think his level is not high but he does have a race in him and I would look for a flat galloping track, a bit of cover but not too far off the pace as at that level no one is going to do anything quickly. There are worse horses winning races so only a matter of time I feel sure.

Well our boys have been keeping the vets in beer moneu.
SQUIRE had a day trip to Cheltenham today and following the camera research that he had before the vet concluded that he was worse than when he had seen him before. He underwent a soft palate operation which should help him with his breathing when he comes under pressure. He wont be able to have this procedure again, if it doesnt work he will need a more dramatic tie forward op.
He will have a very easy week now on the horsewalker before getting back to full work. He should be ready to go again properly in 3-4 weeks.
BUZZ LIGHTYERE suffered the cruelest cut a week ago and is now a gelding. He had an easy week but will now get going and should be seen on the track again in three weeks time. Whilst being gelded doesnt make you any quicker it does allow the horse to focus and that could be all that is required to make the difference. He has always been well behaved at home but a proper jack the lad at the track. His next run will be very informative.

Thanks for the info as usual mate! Fingers crossed for Squire that it works! If it works for the big man down it ditcheat I'm sure it will only do wonders for him but fingers crossed, I have seen the procedure of a more extensive tie and it's a big op!
As for Buzz being gelded I'm sure will only do him good! Bit like a wind op it's good to know as you say it doesn't make them faster but just gives em the edge on the concentration side and can really get in to his racing and really show the true talent he has - good example that springs to mind was Hugo Palmers Gifted Master very talented horse but apparently was a nightmare at home and at the racecourse and wasn't 100% genuine the op calmed him down and has turned him in to a genuine horse and won 4/5 races after (mixture of last and this year) the operation so fingers crossed Stick
