I don't disagree with you on that, but the point you made were that all of Warnocks trolley-dash signings were triers....I'd hardly put SWP or Bloody Luke Young in that category
I think that the sad thing with all those players listed, is that they all had an opportunity to "revive" their career at QPR - and prove their old managers they were wrong to let them go. How sad it is that, the players all felt that they could take the money without putting in a sweat. Putting in the effort may have potentially led to a move to another club and a chance for them to everyone of their skills and ability.
Those are the facts of course but Young, Traore and Dyer were relatively cheap because of their various problems. More importantly, I suspect he would not have gone anywhere near Ferdinand, SWP and Barton if Tango and Cash had allowed him to buy between the end of the promotion season and the start of the new one. His mistake was in underestimating the quality of the players he already had because with a couple of exceptions, Taarabt and Faurlin they were workforces held together by team spirit and game plan. With two days to go and no quality left to buy, he panicked. He did not repeat that mistake at Cardiff and got them further this season than anyone could reasonably have hoped given the lack of investment. Given that they still have to play Fulham and Palace they might yet escape the drop. He will of course be moved on by Tan if they do go down. That will go down as a colossal mistake equal in size to the first of many that Fernandes made when he got rid of Warnock in January.
Ahhhh..... SWP ( short for, SHOOT WIDE of the POST ) Able to run 70 laps of a football pitch during a game yet still needed to stop and ask directions to the goal posts. Almost spoken about in the same vain, the one, the only .... "Mum, can you drive me" ...A. Ferdinand. These two club legends surely deserve a club Lifetime Achievement Award.
We should take a close look at championship and league one fans' players of the year as that tells you a lot about their character. Doherty from Shrewsbury as an example. Pig got from AFC Wombles. Sounds obvious but I bet it's not occurred to our scouts to look ar such players. Go through each clubs list and we could get 4/5 players that'll keep us afloat next season. Ps why no talk of wally downed as next manager?
Doherty has gone back to Glasgow Rangers...however maybe he would fancy a loan to the real Rangers I think we should also look at the players from teams that do not get promoted through the play offs. However I am just curious to know who is staying and who is going from Loftus Rd.
