Makes a lot more sense than Baines to Utd. Didn't overly believe that one - why would Baines want to sit on the Utd bench at his stage of his career, and why would Utd want to pay all that money to only put him on the bench.

Whether or not we've really missed out all depends on how well he does I guess. I've never seen him before, so I've really got no idea.

I think Fox is likely to be fine against most teams in this league. You can't really judge him by his performance against Man City.

Considering that practically everyone else did very well, I think we can judge him.

I agree that he'll probably be fine against most/half of the teams in the league, but that isn't good enough. When we play United, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea...etc we can't have someone who isn't going to be able to raise his game, like the rest of the lads.... I'm even worried about what Moses will do to him on Saturday. I definitely think he's the weakest link in our team.

I don't think you'll have to worry about Moses.

And you've thought that for, what, four hours? Not a single person on this forum, to my knowledge, had mentioned that they thought Fox was the weak link in our team before today. You are making a judgement based on one game.

And Puncheon wasn't?

*Raises hand*

I've been saying that Fox is the weak point in our team since about halfway through last season

I did as well!

Oh, fair play to you guys then. I don't really agree but there you go. I didn't criticise anyone all season, until Fonte towards the end, but after his performance today, I think I'm quite happy with the team. I'd rather Adkins focused on stability now rather than changing everything.

It's amazing how you know what I mean more than I do. Remarkable.

I haven't though that for 4 hours and I'm not making a judgement based on one game. I've never liked Fox much as I just don't think he's that good. I don't like his style of play, attacking wise, and I think he is poor defensively. Just because he can put in a good across every now and again, people think he's quality.

You're not going to believe this, but I actually agree with parts of what you're saying. You can't judge a full-back on his crossing ability.

He did look very good towards the end of the season, especially for a 21 year old.

Much closer was Adebayor, who agreed terms with Saints but Lowe didn't like his attitude and pulled the plug.

As much as I hate Lowe, it want his fault that we didn't sign Adebayor. We had a deal sorted but we were denied a work permit so the move was canceled.

We put a bid in for Drogba but it went no-where. Much closer was Adebayor, who agreed terms with Saints but Lowe didn't like his attitude and pulled the plug.

So Lowe was, if nothing else, a reasonably good judge of character...

More strangeness in this article. Referring to his pending Man U medical.......

"A medical may not be totally straightforward as Alexander Büttner was due to join Southampton until he failed medical tests for a reason which was kept out of the media"

Very very strange. Can anyone think of a reason that a failed medical (or in fact anything medical) may have led to the 3rd party demands on Vitesse?
