A big fuss in that the matter will get itself resolved and we end up with the player anyway..? Or... The player isn't worth getting our knickers in a twist over..?
Buttner may have to pay this himself to secure the move, but may be too large to make move worthwhile. He'll feel a right fool staying at Vitesse. I love the way this story is building with Chinese whispers...references to mafia now on some forums. Jokes turning to 'truth' in some peoples minds.
If he was at Vitesse already, surely any subsequent deal he made is for him to settle. Can't expect Vitesse to reduce their 100% of his transfer fee.
My trouble is that I love too easily As soon as I think someone is coming I decide that the player is great and will fit in well. You are right...we hadn't heard of him before, so can no doubt replace him with someone as good or better. Let's wait and see.
I think we can all be a bit too much like that Fran, especially these days. But, if I look through the squad, I find I can be quite cool about the odd player. Fox isn't my favourite, by any means. Sharp is iffy too. Chaplow is a bit meh. Even Schneiderlin, the fans favourite, gets a very realistic reception from me, rather than a Le God style bow. Totally irrational on my part I know, as it's well known that every player who pulls on a Saints shirt immediately attains the ability to walk on water. They might be a crap footballer, but they can still walk on water.
This is why you wait for us to officially announce news. Even some of the more level-headed people on here were treating him as having already signed, which surprised me. Not like them.
Solent have an interview with Buttner's agent and the Vitesse Technical Director tomorrow morning - 07:20. ALSO, Peter White, a South Coast journo - says "deal off".
When Vitesse announced it on their website I considered it a done deal. Eliott Ward taught us Sky Sports isn't infallible but BBC I'm surprised about, and particularly the Vitesse website.
Rumours the issue was the deal progressed without much involvement from his agent and it's irritated the agent that Buttner and Saints went as far as they did without involving him. I'm sure we will have a clearer picture tomorrow morning.
I'm also surprised that no-one appears to have yet added to the 'I can't believe it's not Buttner' line.
"One headline from Buttner's agent: thinks deal can still happen, 3rd party issues resolved, he says. #saintsfc in control of deal." (Adam Blackmore on Twitter)
