There are people who WERE hung up on Buttner of which I was one. Early season it was obvious to all that LB was a problem position for us, as SFC4BAG said Luke has been a revelation and made us much more solid, lets hope he stays fit.

    Buttner or Shaw?

Ask Sir Alex and I bet he would give his right arm for Luke.

Body parts only become involved if you make The Don very angry.

And only via the phone numbers of very select French butchers.

I saw Saints play yesterday, and must admit Luke Shaw played superbly, and was to my mind man of the match.

A very mature head on such young shoulders - big future ahead for him, and only a matter of time before he is pushing Ashley Cole for an England start.

The Telegraph reckoned that Stuart Pearce was at SMS to have a look at Shaw.

I'd be very surprised if he hadn't been checking him out. In fact, I'd call for his sacking if he hadn't.

Next season he'll be in the U21's no question.

The Don needs to make sure he has a water tight contract if Luke is to start playing for U21's as he will be mixing with youngsters from the big teams who will be looking to turn his head with their cars and watches!

I would hope that Luke has the sense to realise that at his age he should be working at getting better. Quite a few big hopes have fizzled out because they earn enough without putting real effort in. However, he is a teenage boy and is already talking about wanting to pass his test so he can drive to training. Nothing bigger than 500 cc, please. Have to say that Saints do seem to turn out sensible players.

I think the policy is to only recruit bright level headed ones in the first place Fran and that is not only at academy level but also for the first team.

I am always pleased with how our players come across when interviewed.

We have only had one or two that have generally let the club down - Ranger and Wise for example - Nathan Dyer's actions at that night club were just plain stupid and I was impressed with his responses when he was interviewed after a his goal against us the other week.

I wonder how many not606 posters would pass muster in that part of the Saints player selection interview where the emphasis is on intelligence and personailty.

Not me that is for sure as I would probably be as short tempered as Paddy Crerand was on Radio 5 this morning.

Have you seen the speeds that 500cc can do on two wheels, Fran?

I wonder if football players are banned from riding motorbikes. I know that actors frequently are as it could cost a fortune to lose your star in the middle of a film. Would also be true for a player.

Not words that often get used to describe Luke Shaw!
