Has he not been brought in to possibly open up the asian marketing potential as well. £2mil is as you say, nowt, in todays prices. Win, Win situation
Mag in peace. I see you're close to signing Craig Gardner from Brum. Just want to know if you think it's a good signing or not? Is he what you need? Do you hope for better signings later in the summer? Just asking.
Not sure, But Bruce obviously rates him. BTW how the **** did you manage to post 5,200 times since January?
11 goals from midfield last season. 15 from 42 games, a midfielder that can score? Nah don't need him. Best one so far in this transfer window..
Pleased with Gardner, as has been noted we need to score from midfield, and have at least one player (Other than Bardinho) who can welly it accurately from long range. But I hope we pass on Gibson as I think hes essentially a lesser Craig Gardner. Add to that if we have Gardner, Gibson, Larsson and Bardsley, there could be a lot of wasted shots in row Z!
8 in 40 games, and he was good. If this lad can carry his form on, he's exactly what we need, also expecting Sess to get a few from midfield, so just a good striker now and the goals may come.
Im sick of people talking about the "Asian" market! Hes South Korean, not Asian! Asia is a continent not a country, and like Europe, each country cares about its own interest first and foremost, and like in Europe, in sporting term at least, probably views other Asian countries as rivals. Japanese fans for example couldn't care less which team some South Korean striker is playing for. Same can be said for the other major nations in the region, China, India (Football starting to emerge there)
but its still a foot in the door to the "Asian" market, as South Korea is in Asia (its more than we had before signing him thats for sure).
Pleased with the Gardner signing and as mentioned goals from midfield is definitely an area that need strengthening. 20 million for henderson, 5 million for his replacement, good business. Just hope that this doesn't detract Bruce's attention from a proven goalscoring centre forward.
It is a start, true. He'd have to be a big success for us in order for ourselves to gain a fanbase there. I take Lee Dong Gook as the example, was a superstar in South Korea, then moved to Boro, did bugger all for them, but his presence at Boro alone wasn't enough to get them a base in South Korea. Even Bolton, with Lee Chung Yong, who has been a success, are hardly the biggest thing in South Korea are they?
Not a clue i dont live there lol but i would still say Man U and Liverpool are, obviously 1 player wont make our turnover increase by 100`s of millions, it will need success on the pitch as well, but even if we just sell 20,000 shirts (real ones) over there, then thats a huge chunk of his fee paid for. if we sell 100,000 then thats all profit that we wouldnt have had if we didnt buy him. its a step in the right direction, i still say we should play some friendlies over there (which may be part of the deal for next close season) which will get us even more recognition.
Mornin Folks, must say Iam delighted with the news regarding Gardner think he will be a great acquisition, furthemore we must not forget, hes not just a pot shot merchant, this lad can spray it around abit too so I cant see any reason how he and Gibson couldnt combine in midfield, tho I suspect Catts will take the helm with one or the other. Again Folks BBC Radio Lancs linking us with a move for Rodellaga this morning. As a result iam not bothered if we cant get 'he who shall not be named' but what do you folks think about Rodellaga ?
Rod is strong, fast and tall. All good attributes. But does he score enough to justify his price tag? Thats the question usually on peoples' minds about Rodallega. And that price tag will be large, hes endeared himself to Premier League clubs with his attitude and hard working style. But Wigan will likely lose him and N'Zogbia this summer, 2 of their best players, so will be looking to get top dollar for both of them to allow for reinvestment. He also came out in the pre recently saying he only wanted to move to a club challenging for a title (Doesnt have to be English, Sevilla were linked with him ) Although this could just be to negotiate better wages with a club who aren't that big.
What do you mean real one's you mean same shirts but at a much lower cost. A certain player doesn't give you millions of shirt sales, like you say sucess does that. But if that sucessful club has a player from any given country then he can help to spread the name. But no club is ever going to take away the dominance of Man U and Liverpool away, a small portion of the market is all you will ever get, but that small portion can be quite significant. Arsenal and Chelsea for ex. massive clubs but mean nowt compared to the other two.
