Yeah ok I see what you mean, our salary bill hasn't just dropped by that overnight...but however you work it out the wider point is definitely true, the squad is primed for a bit of quality Summer transfer business.
 
So, that also raises the question: what is our wage bill as of the summer? My complete guesswork has us around £600k p/w, which is about 60% of the wage cap under the PL's quasi-cap (and probably close to the lowest in the league).

No idea on figures but I would definitely put us in the bottom 6 in the Prem for salaries. In fact keeping on top of that when we had such a rapid rise might be IMO the best thing Cortese did. Really wish current figures for this stuff was made available by the PL, West Ham/QPR supporters deserve to know.

Agree. Terms are made public in some other sports -- MLB publishes the full details of all contracts, including bonuses -- which would be better than finding out at the end of the season that the team is an hour from administration when the accounts are publicized.

We've cut the deadwood, we've cut the wage bill, we've offloaded a player who may have caused significant dressing room disruption had he stayed, we've held onto our key players, we've not spent money for the sake of it. I'm content, I'm happy. That Roberto Martinez quote is apt, and correct.

The squad is thin, almost to a stupid degree, but it matters little in our position. The key, as I have said before, is that we strengthen before next season. And I'm sure that we will do just that, with or without MP.
