I thought I’d start a thread so people could give advice on survival tactics ala ray mears.
I said to the wife this morning I’m thinking of buying a generator. Am I overreacting?
 
Get one, while you're at it, some barb wire to place atop your new 10 foot fence, and 2 Rottweilers to patrol the yard. And don't forget the 200 rolls of toilet paper.
The British power business has been under funded for years. We have to buy in capacity. What if workers at power stations go sick?
I had an electrical problem at home recently. No power in my kitchen , utility for a week no heating/hot water no fridge/ freezer I couldn’t get a spark for love nor money. In the end it was resolved but talking to someone who lives in the sticks who suggested get a generator.
