    I'm sooooooooo looking forward to going Saturday!! My lad just phoned me and just laughed, saying, "oh well, we had Wembley. Straight back down for us".

    He could well be right.

    Isn't it better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all?

    I think we're switching to 442 Vs Sunderland. Why else would Harry tire out 3/5 of our CB's tonight (unless he want Onouha to look knackered & ****e on Saturday so he can drop him Vs Utd).

    Right, well, I'm off to bed to dream of the day we have a boring, mid-table Premier League team.

    (This board is going to be utter carnage till Saturday!).

    As others have said, I can't understand why:

    (a) we didn't give some of our unfit first choice players some much needed game time;
    (b) we didn't practice our much vaunted 3-5-2 system so everyone in the club is familiar with it;
    (c) we tired out 3 players who should be first choice on Saturday: Faurlin, Onuoha and Hoilett;
    (d) we didn't start with a front man; and
    (e) we played Taarabt when, according to Arry, he has hardly trained.

    This can only have damaged our confidence, in contrast to Sunderland who chalked up a professional away win. Arry's team selection, tactics and failure to motivate our players are all a complete mystery to me and the result is yet another embarrassment.

    Right lads, I am not going to try to put a positive spin on that but here's a thought or two.

    A previous poster has already mentioned the unwritten message to the board that the squad is thin in quality and more signings are required. You and I know that may not be the answer but it seems Harry's nature to buy success if he can rather than develop what is in front of him. Secondly, is it possible that Harry and Hoddle wanted to protect the first team against the possibility of a further confidence sapping loss against lower league opposition? In doing so, he sacrificed the B team. Yes, they should have won but did not just like Man U, Villa and whoever else lost that "should not have". This is football and it is a cup game. Anything can and does happen.

    I posted earlier that if we lose we should not go into meltdown. I stand by that. Meltdown occurs if we do not see fire and passion on Saturday and a re-emergence of the "band of brothers".

    The media in the UK love to pounce on a wounded animal, like hyenas circling the weakest creature waiting for the kill. Fans from other clubs join in that process (see the Swansea paramesium brain above whose tiny weaner is getting all excited because we lost today). DON"T JOIN THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO DRAG US DOWN!!!!! To be fair to one of the media bods on 94.9 (sorry don't know who), he said that he thought Harry would sort this out in due course.

    Are there any positives? Few if any at present.

    All the more reason, therefore, to cheer with energy and fervour and be that 12th man on Saturday as we were against Wigan at home and at Wembley. We are under the cosh so time to revive the Wembley Spirit. A point or three and everything will have a different perspective very rapidly indeed.

    How many times have we said before that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

    Hang in there lads and lasses. I've not got my head in the clouds but these are my thoughts after I sat mute for a while getting over the disappointment. Finally, Steve Black, step up fella, the team needs you!!

    Roll on Saturday.

    The last thing we need this season is the Capital One Cup. I am actually pleased we are no longer in it and before the game hoped we would exit and the same applies to the FA cup. Our one and only purpose this season is to focus on the Premier League.
