We have got a better squad that's why we are 2nd, have we got enough big game players who will relish Saturday? Lets hope we have and Bristol was a one off
I think the players have looked mentally tired since Easter, to be truthful. That being said this is one game season, in the players minds, because as soon as they win a game, they're up! Consequently with the right psychology applied by the management, I don't think mental fatigue will come into it for the next two games.
3 games in 6 days and the fact that Boyd was playing in a less familiar position won't have helped. Lets face it, they all looked leggy Vs Bristol and just like bad pitches, fatigue can also be a leveler. I think that Bristol's game-plan was effective in that they came to defend and frustrate first and foremost - and the K.C. crowd duly assisted them in achieving that. If they'd needed a win then there would have probably been more space to exploit in dangerous areas, and more chances created. I expect a much more energetic and dynamic performance on Saturday after a full weeks rest, especially with Evans coming back in providing that bit more surety in midfield. If we can provide a solid enough platform for Brady, Elmo and Boyd to perform then we'll win the game. Fryatt and possibly Koren give us options from the bench - as does the ability to go 4-4-2 if required. 5,500 giving them the right sort of backing should also provide a bit of a lift if one were needed also.
Burnsey just tweeted Steve Bruce has said Corry Evans will start on Saturday. Good! Now lets hope Simmo and Boyd start up front!
Couldn't agree more, then you have the more thick contingent of our fans saying the players 'aren't trying' or 'can't be bothered' without considering they are knackered. How many of our players are fresh or coping well, it isn't many. In fact I will say this again before the next couple of games, anybody saying the players aren't trying is a ****ing idiot of the highest order
Not a problem at all. If Hobbs dont make it then McShane is fit and well and rarin to play. No worries.
Yes indeed. Bruce also denied that there was any truth in the "Boyd to Celtic" rumours. Not that anyone would believe such nonsense. The thought of playing PL football next season should remove any thoughts of tiredness and fatigues ffs. They have had 8 days since Brizzle. Last week they had a partial excuse with 3 games in 6 days and lots of travel.
I agree at the Brizzle game they certainly looked as if they were running on empty. Hopefully with this recuperation time since that game they will be up and readying for it Saturday. With Evans playing, it looks as if we could well have the best balance team out with Boyd and Simpson up front.
Bruce should go back to the away from home team but just Macca instead of Hobbs.. Stockdale Chester Faye Macca Elmo Meyler Evans Quinn Brady Boyd Simpson And I'm sure he will.
Agreed. Actually when you look at the season as a whole our best run of results has always been when the midfield has contained Evans-Quinn-Meyler with December 2012 being the standout month. Ipswich away (first half) was as good as anything. Just a shame that Evans got booked. Time to seal the deal this weekend.
Along with Evans returning to the fold I'd say the 7/8 days without a game will have done us the world of good. Too many tired legs since mid-march. Come on City!
I think the team pretty much picks itself for Saturday and it's the one already mentioned a couple of times on this thread, I think the only position that's in doubt, is Fryatt or Simpson to partner Boyd up front.
