I don't you can take too much out of this game on its own or and the time to judge is the end of the season. I get being on the beach but there are levels and I do think it's important to not completely collapse from here, for morale more than anything else. If we got less than 45 points then I think that would be a fairly big disappointment in the context of the whole season. Though personally I'm with him unless he fully turns on the cups next season.
Yeah I'm not disagreeing, just think he starts next season, but needs to not have a poor start as hopefully he'd be right under pressure.
I agree. I think today we weren’t totally awful, but just didn’t want it enough. Just going through the motion until May. Not right and slightly annoying, but it is what it is.
Even the ‘who else is there’ argument is a poor one. We are one of the top 20 clubs in England in perhaps the most prestigious European league, good managers will come. Likewise, there are always gems to be picked out. Sometimes it works (Poch, Koeman) and sometimes it doesn’t (Puel, Pellegrino).
Yeah. I did say weeks ago - from the moment that Villa burst our bubble, really - that we should expect an end to the season like this. It was entirely predictable. Fighting for 9th just isn't the same as fighting for something more tangible. The important thing is to avoid it dragging into next season. We started this season slowly, and how much was that down to last season's awful finish?
So very similar over the course of the season to Potter then, who everyone rates incredibly highly. See, that's the issue. It will be the same next season. It'll be the same for all the teams around our level. We could well still finish top half this season, which on an outlay of bugger all is an excellent achievement, whether it *feels* like it or not. We're so focused on our own team (understandably) that we don't recognise that all the other teams of our level are pretty much the same - inconsistent. What we do have a line on is the spectacular scoreline, but ultimately, that really doesn't matter. Sadly, that's the reality of football now.
You are an optimist. The way the side are performing a parting of the ways is on the cards. If the next two.games go.belly-up, he'll be gone!! I feel RH has taken SFC as far as he can, and moving on might be in his best interests as there won't be a shortage of suitors, while SFC need an infusión of fresh ideas!!
I'm sure they said in commentary that Palace are worse off this season than last season under Roy. More exciting to watch now, absolutely. But still as inconsistent as all of us in the middle.
Exactly. It's our perception that's warped. Brighton have only won 9 games all season too, and yet pretty much anyone here would take Potter were Ralph to go.
We need a complete clear out from top to bottom. Too many crap players stealing a living combined with a tactically inept and stubborn manager mean we're going to be treated to exactly the same, once again hoping that there are 3 teams worse than us and Ralph can go 4 games without losing If it is as the Ralph supporters on here believe, that outside of the top 6 anyone can beat anyone then why stick with Ralph? If we're treating it like a lottery then why not have a go with a new manager? Looking at our league results they read like this; LDDD DLLW DWWL LDDL DWDW LDWD WWLL LDLWL Apart from Jan til the end of Feb we've been rubbish. We've lost 4-0 to Villa and 6-0 to Chelsea. We've been beaten at home by Newcastle and Watford and are below Brentford and Newcastle. That's not progress
Your relentless negativity is totally unfounded. Hasenhuttl has improved most of the squad since he arrived. His transfers in have been mostly fantastic. He transformed us and kept us up with one of the tiniest budgets in the league. He makes mistakes, but he owns up to them and tends to learn from them. He plays attacking, fast football. And most importantly he’s a top bloke who is happy to be here. I think you should support Liverpool or someone if you want to watch a team that wins every single week.
Ralph will quite rightly be given a summer under the new ownership with some actual money to spend first.
Because a new manager could very, very, very easily take us down. There are many on here that would have taken Frank on when we were having one of our iffy spells. That wouldn't have likely worked at all. Yes, outside of the top 6 anyone can beat anyone. And we don't look like we will be relegated with Ralph, plus it's actually nice to have someone that gives a **** in charge. We're not getting relegated with Ralph - so why take the risk by changing manager to someone that we could get relegated under? For what? So we might end up 10th rather than 12th?
You know as well.as I know, that football is a results based business at the end of the day. I am.not so sure the new chairman is exactly in awe with current.performances. If RH is still.at St Mary's in August, I'll treat you to an Indian!!
And we also know when Ralph gets it right and the players actually turn up we can compete with anyone in the league. In fact we tore Spurs a new one at their place - one of my favourite ever away games.
