We've played the three teams relegated from the Premier League and have a win and two draws from three away games yet can't beat the crap of the division, we're truly a conundrum. Great point in any circumstances...
Looking back at yesterday's trip to Burnley it becomes even more apparent how poor we actually are and I find myself wondering why I was happy leaving with a point. I'm pretty sure we could get a point nearly every game setting up like that. Near enough every player behind the ball, clearances smashed anywhere, have a go up front if you ask to. Defend for your lives etc etc. 2 teams in the same division but one playing like they were non league in a cup tie. Many will disagree, I'm sure, but it was piss poor and desperate. What has it come to when I felt chuffed we got a point playing like this.
Totally agree, reminded me of trying to grind out results last season. What is really disappointing is coming away from Sheff Utd full of enthusiasm for the season ahead and within 2 mths, we are a totally disjointed team, playing as individuals, and clearly arguing amongst themselves. Added to the fact Alfie is our only fit striker who actually looks dangerous and still doesn't start. Right near the end he out muscled two Burnley players(of which none of our players managed the entire game) and could have potentially been through of goal, was fouled twice and nothing given, by a very poor ref.
He had two opportunities to play Saito and Chair through on goal, and nearly hoofed both of them out of play for a throw in. One in the 2nd half for Chair was absolutely shocking, as any reasonable pass Chair was in 1-1
The trouble is with nothing upfront it would be suicidal to set up any other way, I agree with your comments but without Frey we're totally toothless and we may as well try to weather the time he's out with this sort of shyte. It seems 'Martiball' has been found out...
