In that snapshot what was Grimes trying to do with his arm raised, trying to stop the ball? No need as there were two defenders behind him and two at the side of him? Did the ref, or the linesman from afar, have a clear view? If so why did the ref take so long to decide, if there was doubt he shouldn’t have given it. It would also look different from another angle.
Just watched the extended highlights and nothing in the game really. They possibly had the better of the chances. But what a soft penalty, whether it was deliberate or not, very soft either way. Gutting indeed.
A bittersweet climax to the game that penalty. We had played really well throughout the game I just wish our attempts at goal had a bit more spice and not an attempt at back passes to the goal keeper...that would have made a difference. We quitened their crowd down for most of the match as we were probably the better team. and then 20 or so minutes from the end came the proverbial substitutions that put us in defensive and backs to the wall mode. Tragedy ensued. Another loss by one nil...6....is that a record?
