That's the thing. Our CL performances suggest otherwise. We are struggling without Wanyama and Toby as any team would with 2 of their best players out. The bigger problem is our inability to get past parked buses - the game against WBA was ridiculous I think they crossed the halfway line 3 times in the second half. Alli and Eriksen have gone missing and we lack proper cover from the bench, hence growing rumours that we'll go back in for Barkley in Jan.
Watched it again and being devils advocate, it was a soft penalty. If we're going to bemoan others for giving soft penalties against us, we need to do the same. The defender was a little silly and should have checked his move as Ramsey could have been blocked off without being a goal threat. But Ramsey also made the most of it, with a swan lake special. It happens all the time in the PL, this time we got the rub of the green.
that penalty was so so soft and that is a dive if i've ever seen one. Admittedly tarkowskis hand were in the vicinity of his back but not sure he actually pushed ramsay at all (only seen 2 shots of it). Ramsay deffo dived. If Niasse got a ban for his, ramsay deffo deserves a ban for that.
You've gone from 'not sure' to 'definite dive' very quickly there. The only video clips I've seen are the one which pans to the right very quickly from the header when the camera is moving so quickly it's not clear (1:20 approx on the link)... and then the bit at 1.28 when it looks (quite clearly to me anyway) that Tarkowski is pushing him while he's trying to jump to head it. http://footyroom.com/matches/79940626/burnley-vs-arsenal/review If that was given against us I'd think... fair enough... defender you're an idiot.
It was a penalty, albeit very soft. You do have to admit that there's a certain irony to the fact that since Wenger bemoaned the 'declining level of officials', you've benefitted from some generous decisions. Was he even punished for those remarks?
sorry, let me clarify on dive. Like niasse he dived with the contact and its something everyone does (swan fall ala young). Tbh i think Niasse did get fouled even though he dived after he felt the contact and felt his ban was unjust (dann was still in his way and impeded him but Niasse dived to win the pen if you get what i mean). Ramsay felt the contact and went down. I watched your video and to be honest it looks like handsy on him from the angle that vid gets but by the time it goes forward ramsays already on the way down so i can't see how much tark pushes him. When i say Ramsay dived, he made himself go down. To be honest, i'm not blaming him, it was more the awfuld decision from the ref (the ball wasn't ever playable for ramsay). It was more the FA have made a rod for their own back with the Niasse banning and that comparing the events, i don't think they are too dissimilar.
To be honest - I do see an anti Arsenal narrative in the press coverage of this. I didn't see any mention of the fact Bellerin should have been given a clear penalty earlier in the game. The Ramsey incident would be given more times than not.
There probably is because Wenger is so goddamn condescending and vocal when he perceives an apparent injustice against him. Some times it is, but sometimes it's because his team has been sh1t. If you play with sh1t then expect to attract flies.
It doesn't matter who our Manager is now or moving forward, if he chats sh1t, i will pull him up on it. I think most rational football fans will acknowledge that Wenger doesn't do himself any favours with some of his comments, which he uses to deflect from his team's ****ty performance. But instead of tackling the issue, he continues this same strategy which clearly doesn't work. The players need to be held accountable for their performance, not the ref or some player like Sterling.
Wow, that penalty. Watched it a couple times today, he feels contact and throws himself to the ground. How Niasse got hauled over the coals & Ramsey gets plaudits I'll never know. Shocking.
a) Post links to Ramsey getting plaudits b) Post the video you've watched that shows Ramsey throwing himself to the ground Your post = shocking.
