Familiar pattern. More fouls by us due to pressure, bookings conceded and goal down. Now, who can we bring off the bench to change things? Call for Watters!!!
Because we again saw City constantly lose or give away possession and show no quality in final third until at last a cross beat the first man. Rinomhota was only on the pitch for a short time but lost or gave the ball away so often. He wasn’t the only one though. Was Romeo fouled for their goal?
Disagree. Ok, we’re not good, just poor in the final third. We’ve not been battered in any game and if we’d had that quality in the opposing third we’d be well up the table. Problem is I can’t see how we will improve if we fail constantly to put in decent crosses and have both runners from midfield and good strikers in the penalty area
This was all about Hudson and I was more than happy to see him start with almost the same side that started against Middlesbrough. the same forward line that scored 3 in that game. While Morrison on the touchline seemed intent on shouting at certain players and fight the other managers Hudson was urging our players to give more urgency. Crosses are a waste of time anyway, you have a bunch of players and living in hope one of your players gets it, the simple solution is pass it to a players who is free on the outside of the area at least then it gets to the player.
Ok, so, the dust has settled and Mrs Brizzle and I have had opportunity to consider some of the positives from yesterday's unexpected and welcome point, whilst also considering what needs improvement. Positives Robbo has opened his account and looks relatively sharp for us, even though, when you consider things, he's not had very much game time with the team still; We created chances and ultimately went toe to toe with arguably one of the best in the division; We came from behind to get something out of the game; Shots on target stat was ok this week, plus a few blocked shots... We were a bit more threatening than previous weeks; We did well in our "duels" (but see below). Could do better Crossing accuracy was woeful; Ariel duels - again we were outdone massively in this area, but I guess that's the flip side of have a "small" team nowadays. Some interesting post match interviews from both sides. General consensus taken is there's definitely more to come from this team. I really think we need to see this as an encouraging result that we can hopefully build from. Onwards and upwards!!!!
Excellent post match analysis sir. I have to admit my usual positivity has been absent in recent weeks so this was a bit of a tonic.
Bit extreme to say we're relegation material. We certainly need to get back to playing how we were playing in the first few games and if we do I can't see us being concerned about dropping.
