That was probably just lucky for the lino....think he was blindsided by the 2 players clearly offside.
Just been over on Saintsweb and got side tracked by a thread complaining about the bar service. I agree that it isn't unreasonable to have some choice and to get served, but I cannot understand why it is so important to have a drink in a 15 min interval. To some it is life itself. Are most fans alkies? They must be if they cannot last 105 minutes without a drink. I go to the theatre a fair bit and I gave up trying to have a drink in the interval decades ago...it just isn't a pleasure to stand in a crowd and then swig the drink down too quickly. How much nicer to have a drink before or after the performance. Instead of getting stressed, why not just chill out. And as a bonus the club might make it easier to buy a drink if there was a drop in income.
One of the moans was that they shut the bar when the match restarted...if they had carried on serving beer after that, allowing for drinking times, people would be returning (and disturbing others) for at least 10-15 mins of the game. That is 10-15 mins missed of a 45 min half. I just find it unfathomable. Perhaps there should be a mark on the floor saying that if you are further back than this, you have no chance of being served, live with it.
In fairness, I did want a bottle of water pre-game and half the bars were closed so the queues were ridiculous. Completely agree with being able to hold out on a beer in a fifteen minute interval though!
I'm not questioning that the club should do better....we are customers after all, but I don't see the sense in joining an already massive queue.
That makes some sense, but I still feel like JWP is wasted on the right. I'd rather see Sims get a look if NR isn't playing. You can play JWP at attacking mid. It's not like he sucks at the position by any stretch. Just maybe not as good as Armstrong. If defense is a priority and we are looking to set pieces, I don't have a problem with sacrificing what might be a little bit of a goal-scoring/aggressive attacking edge in Armstrong for JWP's superior set piece taking and probably ball possession skills. I dunno. I just feel like it's time to stop ****ing around with JWP. His obvious position to me is as a linkup player between the midfield and the forwards, probably sitting back a bit deep to be available but making some runs into the box. He needs to do something like what Ings did for us last game, and that I think we want Armstrong to do if he weren't hurt. I think JWP can learn to score. Not like he's going to be a deadly finisher or anything but a player with a good first touch who has enough technique to take set pieces should be able to chip in a few goals from distance and that's all that is necessary. I guess that's what I would do if I were Saints. Have JWP work on his finishing and put him in at attacking mid when you can. At the end of the season, he either shows he can be effective there and we decide we need that role, or if not then it's time to move him on. Maybe he can find a trequartista-like role in another league.
So nice to be talking about shoe-horning players in, rather than out! Welcome 2018/19 season, feel free to stay a while.
I never bother with food or drink at St Marys as it's impossible to get a drink and drink it without missing any of the game. It's all ****e as well.
