I’m absolutely gutted like. I suffer from anxiety quite badly and one of my biggest triggers is missed opportunities or feeling like I’ve missed out. Tonight feels like that. Even tho the rational part of my head knows a point is a cracking result and the performance was a good one. I am genuinely more confident of us getting promoted now than I was 3 hours ago. let’s just not go to pens in the playoff final, ok?
Easy argument to say get someone who puts the ball in the back of the net. Harder to explain exactly how he's supposed to do that!
I won’t name and shame (they’re welcome to hold their hands up) but I’m seeing the same posters that were saying penalties should always be taken by the striker (wtf?!) and lambasting Isador, Roberts, the manager and everyone after the game at Bramall Lane against Sheff Utd, now being the most vocal critics of Isador for taking it. Mind, I should know better than coming on here or any social media when we’ve failed to win. No good for my blood pressure.
I think we should all take a minute just to see that again and appreciate it's majesty. What an incredible bit of play from Le Fée. He showed what a good player he was today, despite maybe not being at peak fitness and playing out of position. If that's what he can do when he can only pass balls to his right, imagine what he can be like in the middle if he can see the whole field ahead of him.
We have to have a player who can move and close down whoever we get, but I do think that they were ripe tonight for us bringing on a player who could hit the target consistently. It doesn’t mean Isidor is a bad player. He simply isn’t. He’s an amazing signing. FWIW I’d have just moved him left, but a one touch bang player would have killed that. We need options to help kill off games like this. I’m happy with the point and performance all in though. We’ve outplayed Sheffield and Burnley home and away, just fine margins.
I may need my.eyes testing then, as Rigg has been just as effective as many others. How ever we didn't win today and your intour element pointing out faults, last time I commented @TeamOfTalents jumped in and pulled me so I will bow out
A good forward who is a good finisher, one who has the qualities of which would slot into our team and improve us? How much is one of them gonna cost us, where we gonna get one from without having our eyeballs taken out? An improvement on Isidor is Premier League quality. How we gonna pull that transfer off? If Isidor was also a goalscorer he wouldnt be here. Despite his faults, hes still one of the best strikers in the league. What more can we ask for?
Ha'way man, seriously ... can you never just enjoy the good in what we've done. I've tried to enjoy this thread, post match, but that's it for me ... ... wading through all the excruciating analysis isn't worth the bother. Well done Sunderland, and all you travelling supporters, that's me done.
But every time he's been moved left, he hasn't had that much of an impact in games In fact he's gone backwards imo
Nah Rigg is class mate. Massive fan. Just don't feel he has been at it for a good while and his numbers show this.
I think the idea that Isidor isn’t a ‘finisher’ isn’t credible personally. Wasn’t his very first goal for us the sort of finish that poachers make? He compares well to most in this league. Yes we can point to the like of Maja who is a better finisher, but the truth is that you then have to accept all the other things that Maja can’t do that mean he’s ended up at this level. Do our rivals have any players that are clearly ahead of Isidor? Not as far as I’ve seen - and Cannon doesn’t change that either imo.
I think we'd be a bigger goal threat with Le Fee in Rigg's spot and Mayenda and Roberts on the wing, eventually upgrade Roberts with Mundle and Watson. Rigg's clearly a huge talent but he's very young and I don't think he's been consistently effective, certainly not to the extent he's undroppable in that position.
Completely agree that Rigg for me could do with a few weeks “off” (on the bench). For me I’d be getting ELF into his role for now. Rigg still has a massive part to play rest of season and hopefully beyond
