    We played very well today.

Blackpool were rubbish. They were without Ince and Taylor-Fletcher. But we were missing Mutch and Maynard plus lost Smith early.

Division is there for the taking.

Could come down to who spends in the window.

where can we improve this team hilts? i think the squad is good enough as it is, possibly a left back but cant connelly play there anyway?

i dont think another striker is needed as velinkonja, helguson, mason and gestede when back, plus bellamy played up top today, and maynard will be back next season, so maybe a loanee but i think we're good enough as it is......

Agree the squad looks good, but could still do with a couple of back up players defence and midfield. We do have 10 new players, but we sold 10 also, so we still have quite a small squad.

Exile, a similar size squad but far better quality <ok>
We do need another defender (or 2) as cover but Ill admit that today, Connolly has won me over.
So does that mean Turner is now cover? Tough call but Im more that happy for either to start alongside Huds who, imo, has made one starting position his own. I know he's had his critics but I think our defence would be worse off without him

I think that sums it up H. We may have the same number of bodies, but MM now has more to chose from.

Some of the players lastseason were never going to get the nod and there would have been moans from everyone on here if they did. This season, we've a strong bench and beyond.

If Smith's injury keeps himout for a few games it will be a loss, but with KimBo, Mason or Noone switching (wings), there won't be many complaints.

Who'd have thought Turner would struggle to get back in?

Last seasn I regularly screamed out for 'TWO WIDEMEN PLEASE', so just to have something to moan about (never happy are we) TWO FULLBACKS PLEASE!!!

Bring on BRUM. We know what Burke is like going forward, but let's see how he helps his full back out in containing Noone / Bellamy!

Both our full backs were excellent yesterday, I thought Taylor did a brilliant job against one of the toughest opponents he'll face this year in M Phillips.
I've said this over and over but there must be a quality young fb to loan from a pl squad, but he has to have pace and Pl teams may not want to lend him to us to sit on a bench or more likely not even make the match day squad.
I think we'd struggle to bring in players better than Kev and Taylor in the loan window.

agree totally, i was thinking more cover for the fullbacks than expensive ones to actually challenge, the standard required isnt too high, the previous ones were naylor and blake, neither of whom for me were ever truly good enough to play for us. that said possibly a striker could give us a better chance of promotion, gestede is not up to the task and i havent even seen velinkonja play yet, a jason roberts type that sealed readings promotion could be what we need. however i think we have spent more than enough money.....

Swamp, Stevo, not suggesting Kev and Taylor need replacing. We need cover though, we don't want them playing 40+ games. Nugent could plug the gap for a game or two or bringing Turner back and moving Connolly to FB from CB. It's the one position we are thin though. Two fullbacks with Nugent as the 4th CB and we have two players for every position and not just a body, but someone to do a job.
