There have been no protests Smug because we've given up. The problems at our club do run much deeper than a manager, but a lot fo them could be solved by making the right appointment. We need a manager who will stick Sissoko, Coloccini, Tiote et al in the reserves, someone brave enough to look at the "star" names that are underperforming week in week out, and have the bollocks to **** them off. McClaren isn't and never will be that man. De Boer has been the man for me for since Pardew left and I stand by that, and I think he'd take the job. We have no idea whether Ashley's promise to invest will continue, if it does then I think we could tempt him. I don't know if you watched MOTD on Saturday but Shearer summed it up perfectly for me, our problems run deep but they aren't unsolvable, we just need some leaders
Hay fella. Your fans have a rep for the bed sheets which predates those managers by a long way. If you think it's a reputation based on falsities that's your bag but the rep is very much there. Welcome to our hell by the way. It's ****ing 'orrible init.
We are a melodramatic bunch on the whole but I don't think that puts managers off nor makes it impossible for them to succeed. And yes, it's completely ****. Where's the exit door? You must know given you've been in here for most of the last 4 decades?
Wijnaldum and Siem De Jong were both capable of leading their dutch sides to Eredivisie titles mate, you've got two decent leaders there, you've just chosen to give the armband to a complete ****ing donkey. I bet if you dropped him and gave the armband to Wijnaldum, you'd start playing better. You need battlers though, for sure.
I'll tell you what, the biggest mistake they made since last season has nothing to do with transfers and everything to do with the way they treated Jonas Gutierrez. He had a load of mates at that club by the looks of it and he was **** all over after saving them in the finale last season. That sort of thing is embarrassing and demoralising.
My leaders comment was more in regards to off-field rather than on-field. Someone with the balls to not appoint a yes-man. Someone with the balls to take on the dressing room elders etc. Of course we have leaders, every squad does. Mitrovic could fit that bill aswell. We have chosen to make Coloccini and Sissoko captain and vice captain, that's down to people who don't have the balls to make a change. EDIT may be Janmaat vice now but Colo is the biggest problem.
You need battlers on the field, the likes of a Naismith or a Jonjo Shelvey, both ideally. Then a solid LB, you should scrape by then 'til summer under the guidance of a decent manager. I bet your fans will be underwhelmed if your scout goes for players like that, but it's exactly what's required now, players to do donkey work, not players like Anita who are donkeys that are told to do a player's work.
Don't think anyone would be disgruntled with those signings. As many of us have been saying for a long time, we need to stop buying players based purely on their technical ability as it takes a lot more to be a success in the premier league. Coloccini is the best player in our squad technically, arguably the worst in reality. I'd like us to try and tempt Carrick from you but no idea how receptive he'd be.
Well you're level headed mate, so maybe you think your fans wouldn't be disgruntled with signings like that but a lot of them were spitting feathers when Aubemayang chose ****ing Dortmund over Newcastle, blaming Ashley's lack of ambition FFS! Carrick wouldn't leave this season, not when he's part of the squad. I think he'll end up on the coaching staff here anyhow, straight after he retires.
That too Judging from the reports it seems like we could have had Aubameyang earlier had we been willing to spend the extra few million, by the time Dortmund came knocking he was well out of our reach despite what our fans think. Depends how long Carrick wants to keep playing and if he feels he can still play week in week out. I know we shafted him as a young lad but whether or not he still has love for his hometown club could be a factor.
He doesn't. He said he'd rather have his nuts shaved by Stevie Wonder with a garden strimmer than ever play for Mike Ashley.
McClaren wont be sacked by Ashley. He is on the board of directors, along with Carr, and has an option of extending his contract to 8 years. The money to pay him off wont be worth it to Ashley (despite the EPL money) He'll just demand Carr finds another Frenchman to buy him in January. The problem is that squad. There are some good players there in Wij, De Jong, and Sissoko, but as a collective, they are ****e. They don't play for each other, they don't play for the fans. They get paid a **** load of money no matter what happens. Relegation would prob be best for them to clear out the crap, the only thing is the Championship is tough to just bounce back up into. Newcastle needed defenders, EPL proven ones, and although they spent money in the summer, it was on unproven players. Wij is a great player, but hes a luxury. He needs work horses around him, to protect him. He doesn't have that. Mitrovic has the potential but will spend more time suspended than scoring.
Haha im at home at the moment, so replying on the computer! The tapatalk is just on the mobile. Can't be ****ed trying to find out how to turn that damn thing off everytime i post! Sent from my home computer... not using Tapatalk
IMO it's because all the protests meant replacing Pardew with Tufty ...... ......... the fans always accuse the club of getting it wrong but this time they know they're 100% to blame. Signwriting, "Yes we wanted Pardew out and got our way but now we're not really sure we did the right thing and would have him back rather than suffer this tufty headed lunatic," on the side of the pardewout.com van would cost a fortune
