Mathematically, they could, but they won't, they're four points behind us and we don't think we can make them.
if it was possible to find a scenario that met the requirements of club and player I would welcome him back. unfortunately I think those requirements are too far apart to make a compromise possible. there has been a lot of conjecture about Bullard creating a negative atmosphere within the club. I don't think any of us on the outside know the truth of this but if that is the case then it would make it even more difficult to reintergrate him. players, or player singular? for the most part players seem happy to come and play for us (and stay). and I for one applaud that. signing Bullard was a huge gamble. if it had come off we could well still be in the premiership and I would be singing a different song. as it is we got virtually no benefit on the playing side and the financial impact was a major contributor to the almost terminal position we were in last year. In my opinion the whole process was flawed and carried too much risk. call me cautious but I prefer the Pearson & Pearson approach emphasising long term stability over short term impact.
But they have Bullard and we don't. The only way he's going to sign for Ipswich on ã20k is if he's still got us paying the rest of his current ã45k for the rest of his contract.
