Just back from derby, thought we played well (except for cuellar falling over and the pen), haven't had a chance to see some of the incidents again but thought we should have had at least one pen for trip on olsson or handball in the box. Could have snuck it at the end, much more spirited performance in the second half. Russ looked class at CB today, a really crucial block in first half and kept chris martin quiet, apart from a few overhit passes didn't do much wrong which was nice. Great to see wes back and being his busy influential self, we've missed him a lot. Johnson seems to have got his confidence back, looked back to near his best today when moved back to the middle. Wouldn't be surprised to see him and tettey back in the middle next week to bring wes / redmond back in. Feel sorry for Josh Murphy, should be close to first team not out of the squad. Not sure why we have 2 CB's on the bench instead.... 2 winnable games coming up we need to go for both of them!
Won't be too long before you hear the words 'Ipswich' and 'Mings' mentioned in the same breath. Although, the correct side of the river Waveney, the phrase is already in everyday use
Never mind Cromer me old mate you can put the lemons away! We've just comfortably beaten a very good side that humped you a few games back! Thanks for doing us a wee favour today though....
Am I the only one who thinks the penalty was in fact a free kick to us? Cuellar is in the act of clearing the ball when a leg comes from BEHIND him and he contacts it. This same leg never touched the ball, so in my opinion this was a foul.
Just watched the whole game again, and I thought that. He was just clearing the ball, and didn't see Martin. Watched Jagielka kick Shane Long into the air in another game, and .. nothing. C'est la vie.
It was handball, that's why there's no point in complaining. It evened out pretty much, as it often does.
Looking at the highlights I thought a draw was just about the fair result... (Only because it helped us )
Well, we bossed the first half, guys must have been gutted to go in at half time behind. Had most of the second half too. A win wouldn't have been unfair, and a great camaraderie I haven't seen for a while. Very happy with that.
Seventeen shots against six and 57% possession says it all really. Neither their handball or the Cuellar "foul" were pens. Derby's first goal was excellent and no defence can do anything about those.Whittaker went very close before the one he scored. Overall a good seven points from the last three games. A couple of the teams struggling at the bottom of the Prem could do worse than look at MM as manager. - That little yellow whistling face that Walt uses.
Morning all, sorry that I wasn't able to join in here yesterday, have finally updated my OP ! Anyway, IMO an excellent display by City and we really should have won that game. Build up play first class, if only we had a better end product we'd be pissing this league. OTBC
Very pleased with the performance yesterday and excellent appraisal by the 'League Show' pundits. I think the penalty decision was harsh!!!!
A keeper is on a hiding to nothing facing a penalty shot. He has to get the direction right, and he has to get the height right. Most keepers dive to save a low shot so any penalty taker who can put a high shot wide either side will almost certainly score.
I wasn't knocking Ruddy I just assume the pen will go in every time. I remember misses from Grabban Snoddy and Hoolahan .
