not the man i would choose but maybe the only man interested so no choice, however his stats dont lie. 3 finals in 4 seasons. he has done something right with low budgets to work with. lets see what he can do with the gas :emoticon-0116-evilg
 
Why would he not be your choice?

seems like a good appointment to me, a young upcoming manager who has been recently successful.

Whats not to like?
 
with the managers available i think we could of done better. i will give him my full support of course and i hope he continues improving himself. but seeing the list of available managers, he is not my 1st choice. however my choices, although realistic, may have not wanted the rovers job and i dont blame them.
 
Great appointment, a good young ambitious manager, who appears to know his own mind. I think he will do well rebuilding the squad, but don't expect miracles this season and I see no return to League one this time around. We need to set the foundations in place and start our new chapter with patience and not blind optimism (it only leads to dissapointment). This season is all about resurrecting the phoenix from the barely smouldering ashes of a disasterous season last time around, Paul Buckle needs to start fanning that smouldering pile very soon. This season is about assembling as good a squad as we can, to review our youth policy and see what we have, to start producing our conveyor belt of talented strikers that we will inevitably have to sell on but hopefully for a handsome fee. This season is about learning how to play the game in the right way again with passion, pride and fight. This season is about the board learning to tell us the truth and if the truth is we're skint, the ground refurb is a non-starter, the wage bill is zero, the losses we are amassing are untenable then so be it but please don't mug your loyal fans for fools. This season is about the fans getting behind this fantastic club with it's rich history, uniqueness and quirky ways, remembering why they endure those seasons of pain for those fleeting moments of success and how sweet they taste because of their rarity. If we can get all this right this season who knows what future seasons hold, I for one see a tiny glimmer, the slightest flicker, of hope.................
 
I still don't think Buckle should be...or will be sacked...yet. There have been a few signs that a run of decent results may be around the corner, the cup run is pulling in a few quid and despite some really poor results - particularly at home - the crowds are still among the biggest in the two lower divisions. Bradford don't count, because they offer ridiculously cheap season tickets to boost teir attendnces.

But, Buckle is wrong not to feel any pressure or show any urgency. If he was such a great manager I think he would have shown that he could make a few changes which would change a game. There would be more of a pattern to our play. We would be consistent and hard to beat. All the attributes that Graham Westley's team has shown at Stevenage.

It's not good enough for Buckle to keep saying "I didn't see it coming". He may be in for a nasty shock in a few weeks if results don't improve massively.

I genuinely thought you had found a decent manager and after seeing your first live game on TV I expected you to bounce back first time.

A friend of mine who is staunch City bet good money on it too after watching that game!

I'm a little amazed at how badly wrong it has all gone.
 
even though i didnt want buckle in the 1st place, i didn think we be this bad under him. what has happened is the worse possible case scenario.
 
hopefully bucks no fiz may have found his level, stuart cambell thinks so much of his man management skills, stuart is spilling the beans, stateside and beyond. and there may be a place over there for higgs in florida, with the dolphins and their very own sprinkler system
 
I can only repeat what I said earlier!!

We have reached a real crisis over the Gas position. One of the most expensive costs to any club is the termination payment to a sacked manager. IMO it would be a better option to appoint an older head in overall charge to get things back under control and Mr Buckle be kept under a tighter rein. Lets be realistic; all the bookies got this one wrong as well as the Gas Board. Almost every bookie had the Gas up for promotion this season at the top of their lists. There was also a lot of optimism sallying around this board and the media
