    Who needs Heathrow? Eastern can fly into London City, right next to Canary Wharf... Just saying ;). Maybe we'd get some business if that route opened up :O.

    Anyway off that point. Can't see why Bruce would go to Wigan and work with that absolute prick Dave Whelan (whom you may have guessed, I can not stand).

    Steve Bruce is now 14/1 on Skybet to be Wigan manager, from 150/1, if the price keeps contracting I would start worrying

    Before someone else does it and gives half of what I'm about to say:

    It means people are betting on him. That's hardly a surprise after the media spent the day speculating about him thanks to Martinez finally having shifted his arse.

    Indeed. In fact imo its no longer about money with Steve Bruce anymore. More to do with sticking it to all his past critics after his Sunderland sacking. His stock will soar IF he can make Hull City a PL regular. Now that is a goal to aim for not to mention the kudos it would bring him.

    Agreed. Helicopter is maybe the best way to get about the uk these days. The heli-pad next door to the kc is more than useful.

    So what ? Now being reported in the national media that Steve McClaren is having lunch with Dave Whelan today. Dont rule out Owen Coyle either. But maybe its will be one of SAF old staff..Rene Maulenstein or Mick Phelan who gets the Wigan gig.

    Looks like it. Then again i never thought it was anything else other than a space/paper filler on a quiet news day.
    The reporters certainly have egg on there faces now.

    I wish I shared John and Tickles confidence to be honest, with Bruce on holiday its prime 'tapping up and poaching' time. Whelan is bonkers enough to give him whatever he wants and Europe has to be a draw for any manager. Its possible too that our owners could make financial gain out of the situation, if you want to be cynical about it.

    I think that Bruce has more interest in sticking two fingers up at the people who dissed him the last time in the PL than Europe, besides do you really think that Wigan are going to go very far in Europe.

    I would agree with you if the previous regime were still in charge but Not the Allams. They allow the manager to manage which is what Steve Bruce wants with no interference. The Allams have much to lose than any gain by allowing Bruce to leave, not that i think he would. Wigan wont be back in the PL anytime soon. Could well be next seasons Blackburn Rovers and being in europe wont help them either.

    Wigan will be properly buggered in the league with the European games they'll have to play. The Championship season is long and hard enough as it is without the added pressure, and risk, of those European games. I'd go as far to say that those European games will harm their chances at promotion back to the PL too.

    Well Wigan do get a bye to round 3 of the coc. <cool> That may help a little.<laugh>

    46 league + 6 europa + at least 2 domestic cup games = 54 games minimum. Lol.

    3rd round of the COC may well prove to be the most successful aspect of their season. I find them inoffensive though so wouldn't mind seeing them do better. Maybe a few good result in Europe.

    If they held their team together, their showing in the Cup Final would suggest they are capable of coming back up. If as expected, they lose their best players... Bob Hope.

    Out of interest what do football managers do between coming back from holiday and the transfer window opening. As Bruce must already have handed Papa his shopping list (hopefully it's a good one)

    Given that:

    1. The club say that they've had no contact from Wigan;
    2. SB says Wigan (or any club) has not contacted him directly;
    3. Wigan say that they have not, and have no intention of contacting SB

    I suspect that there is no mileage in the rumour

    Well they obviously spend hours on FIFA so they can speak with authority on players abilities, skills and values. Duh.

    Who knows? Two years ago Birmingham won their play-off over two legs, then won three, drew two and lost just once in the group stage. They were unfortunate to go out. Wigan are no worse than they were, and it all depends on the luck of the draw they get.
