AKCJ: I applaud you! Well done mate, and a great use of your ICT skills. Now cheer on those foxes to join us in the Premier league.
Been really impressed with Maloney at Wigan. Would have fancied trying to get him if they went down but he signed a new contract earlier this year that's meant to keep him at the DW until 2015. They got him for 850k, guess he's worth considerably more than that now but maybe the fact he's 30 might keep the price down a bit. Not sure what effect his new contract would have on it all, possibly a get-out clause if their relegated ?
I look forward to joining in this kind of debate over the next couple of months but right now I'm not worrying at all about who we sign, apart from that I'd like to see a lot of the current squad retained and given a chance. For now I just want to enjoy the achievement.
As does everyone else. There's no harm in identifying some potential signings now. I honestly think we'll be seeing a lot of Nick Powell/John Guidetti rumours coming up. Gary Hooper is one that's been popping up too. Phil Neville and Titus Bramble 'n all...
Surely Hooper would be more likely to go somewhere like Liverpool (or other established Prem Team) than us? I'd like to see Phil Neville, for what he can add to the dressing room, connections and future coaching potential alone. Though, again, if someone more established was interested, he would probably go there. A Powell/Guidetti strike partnership would be interesting, Manchester rivals combining in the Prem. Can't see them both coming off, but think Powell is quite a possibility.
My next year Hull City team: Moore - £1 million (deemed as next Joe Hart by Sky Sports) Solly - free (out of contract) Chester Figueroa - free (out of contract, may sign knew if they survive) Brady Meyler Bridcutt - free (out of contract) Sako - £2-£3 million Aluko Elmo - £2 million (whats the fee agreed?) Austin - £2-£3 million That's a total spend of £7-£9 million for 7 quality young players, then obviously Bruce will want to add experience to the squad like Phil Neville etc...
Some of the players mentioned I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Turnbull, Doyle, SEB, Bramble, Shotton and especially Bramble (yes I realise I put him twice, but this needs emphasizing) are all piss poor players for the pl imo. I don't get this whole experienced pl players thing either, just cos they've been there doesn't mean they're particularly good. Kevin Kilbanr would be a shining example of such a point. Sign some hungry youngsters and undiscovered talent from abroad and focus on turning our club into an established pl team much like stoke or wba
The mirror apparently saying we are gonna bid for Chris Kirkland http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-transfer-news-steve-bruce-1871666
This team cries out for a successful target man that can be an aerial threat. Guidetti is perfect for that role. Powell would be a huge possibility due to our Manchester Utd connections and his need for first team football in order to develop. Both young and hungry, both loans too (probably) meaning they'd cost us nothing in regards to transfer fees, allowing us to spend elsewhere too.
I think this is a great post, but I agree about Austin, he will cost nearly double that. Bridcutt would be a great signing on a free, but I'd prefer Trotter if Brighton go up. I don't now who Moore is, who does he play for? I also like Dorrans who doesn't get the game time he should at West Brom.
22 year old Brentford keeper, meant to be the next big thing. And the reason I only said £2-£3 million for Austin is because his contract expires in 2014 so they could either take a cut price now or in January or risk losing him on a free.
If you remember in 2008 - we were signing players old frim were after (Boateng was one) because a) It's the Premier League and B) we could offer more wages. That was before the latest T.V. rights deal and subsequent increase in prize money. It's a lot more lucrative now. I wouldn't be surprised if, by the end of the summer he doesn't have an established club lined up we wouldn't have every chance of landing him. He'd be perfect in my view.
