We've been pretty frugal so far. I would hope we could still push the boat out for one player. And Tom Huddlestone is just that man. He's English, 26 and on the fringes of the England squad. Got plenty on sell-on-ability.
Never got the move myself either. Yeah losing Heung-Min Son was a big blow in their attempt to build for the future and challenge farther up the table. With him gone it will be interesting to see what Maximilian Beister does.(Insert joke about second division German winger/striker here)
Huddlestone seems like an inevitable Stoke signing to me. Still think we need a DM, CM and a CF to finish the job. Anyone want to hazard a guess about how much left we have to spend? £2m?
I think Bruce said our funds were something like £12m(?), i'd say it's more than that. Though it is likely that like Payton says below, there is no actual budget per se.
Correct. There's no transfer limit (within reason). If Brucey wants a player and he's important, the Allams will stump up the cash.
That makes better reading. It makes you wonder though (if that is the case) why he has signed Sagbo and not a quality forward we still so desperately crave.
Doesn't make me wonder at all. Clearly Bruce rates Sagbo good enough as he isn't looking for another striker, so why spend big money on another striker if he feels Sagbo is good enough to do a job? Also, Graham is quality forward, as he has good experience and has scored many goals at this level. Huddlestone is hopefully going to be the 'quality' signing that you are referring to.
Your opinion. Quite happy to eat my words if Sagbo turns out to be decent but I'd much rather have someone like Bent who is available for peanuts in striker inflated prices, leading our attack. Just feel we need a bit more oomph up front and midfield, that's all.
We do, but there just isn't anyone any good available. If a player proves himself in England his value becomes ridiculous to the point that he either stays with his current club because the only clubs that can afford him are too good (just look at the quality in this year's Championship, there's loads of players who'd fit nicely into our side) or he moves for a huge amount of money. We can't afford to splash £5/6m on every decent player we sign so it makes sense to go abroad and seek value. Even if it is underwhelming.
Now 1/6. Sounds a done deal. Someone on twitter saying they've heard rumours of him undergoing a medical. Probably would have been leaked to national press if that was the case though
It will be an absolutely incredible signing by Brucey. Livermore on loan as well (which is just as likely as Huddlestone) would be a great deal also. I have been saying for months that we would have a massive marquee signing... looks like my prayers have been answered superbly.
By the way - I looked on the City Facebook page earlier, and someone had asked when the kit numbers would be out. City replied 'In a day or two...' Was that a hint that someone else was coming in before then?
I remember people talking like this about Austin and his medical was actually confirmed. Don't you dare **** this up for us Macca!
