EmailPrintSteve Bruce is odds-on to become the first Premier League manager to get the sack this season, according to the Daily Express.
The paper claims that Black Cats owner Ellis Short is fast running out of patience with the club's slow start to the season, with the side yet to win in five games.
It would be a major shock to see Bruce leave considering that Short put up the money for 11 summer signings - but the Express claims that "Short is renowned in the corporate world for his unwillingness to accept second best and wants to see an immediate upturn in fortunes".
Sunderland are all over the back pages today, with Asamoah Gyan's loan move from Sunderland to UAE side Al-Ain hitting the headlines as well. The Daily Star reports that the Ghana striker has quadrupled his pay packet from £50,000 a week to £200,000 a week, tax free, by making the move - meaning that he will pocket almost £10 million for his season's work. Gyan is quoted describing the offer as "too good to refuse".
In addition, Sunderland have apparently received a world-record loan fee of £6m for the player, according to the Daily Mail. Such figures always make for giddy reading - so much so that it was with genuine disappointment that we read the Daily Mirror's more sober estimate of £40,000 a week and £1m loan fee.
