The paper claims that Black Cats owner Ellis Short is fast running out of patience with the club's slow start to the season, with the side yet to win in five games. It would be a major shock to see Bruce leave considering that Short put up the money for 11 summer signings - but the Express claims that "Short is renowned in the corporate world for his unwillingness to accept second best and wants to see an immediate upturn in fortunes". Sunderland are all over the back pages today, with Asamoah Gyan's loan move from Sunderland to UAE side Al-Ain hitting the headlines as well. The Daily Star reports that the Ghana striker has quadrupled his pay packet from £50,000 a week to £200,000 a week, tax free, by making the move - meaning that he will pocket almost £10 million for his season's work. Gyan is quoted describing the offer as "too good to refuse". In addition, Sunderland have apparently received a world-record loan fee of £6m for the player, according to the Daily Mail. Such figures always make for giddy reading - so much so that it was with genuine disappointment that we read the Daily Mirror's more sober estimate of £40,000 a week and £1m loan fee.
I've defended Bruce when others have wanted him gone but when I woke up this morning I was wanting to see him gone. Its a catch 22 I want us to beat Stoke but I feel it would just drag out the inevitable and we'd go to Norwich and lose then get beat off wba. I can't shake the feeling that Bruce is finished.
Wont be to long before Kean gets the chop at Blackburn. Also I see Pardew was slagging the board over the weekend. Ashley hasn't been in the papers for a day or 2 he must surely be itching at ways to get himself some headlines. Bruce will get at least 2/3 more games. Top 3 I would say.
you seen the story on sky sports? club have denied his job is being discussed but have said that this is not a vote of confidence for the manager. I think his days are very numbered, apparently there was hell on in the board room after the game with Short and Co so I would say there is truth in the fact that Short is seething after all the money that has been invested and he may well be venting his anger at Bruce, time will tell as we dont know what to believe now.
That story on ssn was tosh, it was Graeme Bailey a boro fan who talks to safc fans on twitter dailly. "sources" at the club? What a story like this does show is that the wheels are definitely in motion.
It was wee Davey who was telling it earlier, plus said Niall will be talking this afternoon. As to a vote of confidence that is just a Kiss of death, so not getting one and the club saying Bruces contract is not up for discussion.......
If they aren't considering his position and aren't already drawing up a short list of new managers then I'm truly worried. I hope we beat Stoke but I just can't see Bruce turning this around.
I still think we will get thumped by our ex players when Stoke comes to the SOL, would love to beat them, just dont see it.
