Steve Bruce says he tried to sign Virgil van Dijk when he was City's manager https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ce-virgil-van-dijk-hull-city?CMP=share_btn_tw
We were offered him when he was 20, before he'd gone to Chelsea or Basel, he'd only ever played in Egypt.
What a ****ing idiot - Van Dyk, Maguire but he thought he'd stick with Kilmarnock bench warmer ,- he"s even claiming he was fundamental in Robertson's development although Robertson disagrees and puts it all down to Silva - the guys desperate to prove to the Geordies that he knows what he's doing that he's starting to come up with players he might have signed - what about DJ Campbell then you nearly signed him as well
Well we did end up signing Maguire and Robertson , and he even gives credit to Stan Ternant in the article. If he'd rejected those two you really would have had something to complain about.
Art forgery is a seriously punishable crime. A hanging offense in the 15th & 16th century. Brucie would have been toast had he attempted to sign van Rijn Keep your eyes on the ball Steve old chap... please log in to view this image
How predictable that a manager lays claim that he tried to sign this, or that footballer to validate their credentials going forward. I suspect every manager out there could quote something similar whilst overlooking the ones that didn't work out. Human nature at the end of the day, I'm sure we'd all do something similar if we were in his shoes
It was his agent who said we (and Stoke) were the only Premier League clubs to show any interest in Salah, at the asking fee of £2.5m. It might have been Assem who was showing the interest, he was very keen to bring in Egyptian players at the time and Salah's agent was also Gedo and Fathi's agent.
If Bruce had signed him he would have probably ended up like Hatem Ben Arfa, running less than the goalkeeper
He’d have been playing on his own up front chasing long balls, and would now probably be playing for some Turkish second division club.
His team just got boo ed off the pitch again, 0 - 0 at home to Brighton not good enough for the biffa's
To be fair Newcastle were total crap and very fortunate not to have lose by a few. They’ve been that way all season. And the ground is littered with empty seats. Absolutely no way 43k were there yesterday.
