You appear to be somewhat of an expert at it.

One of the finest Hull City performances I have ever seen was the Liverpool home game last season. At the time Liverpool were flying under the unstoppable Louis Suarez. The Man of the Match that day, for me, was Alex Bruce who time and again put in crucial challenges on the little Uraguayan Cannibal.

Alex Bruce is a throw-back to good old defending; he gets a nose-bleed if he has possession of the ball for more than 3 seconds but if the idea is to stop the opposition from scoring, he's your man.

I reckon your opinion is the exact opposite of what actually is the truth. Alex Bruce has a harder time than anyone else in the squad because he always has to not only prove he is good enough to be in the team, he also has to prove that he isn't there simply because his Dad is the manager. And I don't know which games you've been watching, but in my view 9 times out of 10 Alex more than justifies his selection.

I think this whole post sums up my view exactly, as I believe a squad is drawn on for availability and performance; availability is down to good or bad fortune, performance is down to ability and application. Alex Bruce's ability is too often belittled and his application is the standard some others should try and achieve as consistently as he does.

But this line is mint, a great start to the day! <laugh>
