God that's all we need SB to walk 2 weeks before a new season, not panicking just getting concerned.

I can see Steve Bruce walking after the meeting if no funds are available. At the moment he has 18 players in the squad and 2 of those are injured. Brady will be gone and maybe Chester. Prior to the start of the season other clubs will take the opportunity to pinch SB and he will go.

Sounds like he expects Brady and Chester to go.

I like the way he rubbished Burnsies hypothesis that we are more likely to go down than get promoted.

For those that missed it, there's been no approach for Chester, no new bid from Norwich for Brady(though it didn't sound like the last one was miles away) and N'Doye has been given permission to speak to Besiktas after they met his release clause.

Reminded me of the way Meyler rubbished the suggestion that we might be relegated a couple of weeks before the end of last season.

sounds to me like the goal posts are going to be moved , surely a meeting of budgets etc would of taken place months ago

Not knowing all the contract offerings and refusals or the wages before and after the cuts, it does look like we've lost a fair amount of the cheaper grafters ( the ones who got us promoted last time ) and ended up stuck with the arm waving, sulking, over paid, over valued tat.

The club is being run in the best interests of the shareholders. They've probably gone away to crunch the numbers on whether to have a speculative punt on promotion or asset strip the club.

Their names are effectively mud across large swathes of the city so they don't really have much more to lose if they effectively liquidate the club (although the CV would take a bit of a hammering).

So - basically they've waited till after the name change decision to decide what to invest. It's not gone there way so they've gone away to think about it.

Better hope they had a good break. Was anyone on here on holiday with them or their taxi driver?

They only have two modes -

'Glorious Benevolence' or 'Crushing Discipline'. They flit wildly between the two, depending on mood, or someone daring to have an opinion.

I suspect that after their recent set back with Hull Tigers, and relegation, that the Tiger Nation may have to be slapped back into line again.

    Expect austerity and backlash.

Bruce sounded more depressed and flat than I have ever heard him before. No irons in the fire regarding new players other than a wish list.

On one hand I agree with you, but part of me thinks they are too unpredictable.

If they wanted to cut back properly - they would have started ASAP. Instead they want to have us clamouring for signings (which we are) and come riding in on the White horse to show how great they are, and we should never question them. So I am thinking the glorious benevolence; but that's maybe just being hopeful.

He should have resigned when we went down, it's only going to turn nasty if we don't get off to a good start- his best hope is that we still have a lot of class players at the club. I don't care what anyone says, with the players we still have we should be knocking over teams like Huddersfield and most fans probably think the same, if we lose the first few games he's going to have an uphill battle

I reckon the board expected the big earners we expect to go to be snapped up, that hasnt happened therefore we cant buy, we cant afford to be sat on a mountain of debt if we cant shift the big earners.

My guess is that if we dont immediately start recruiting after the first big earner goes then bruce willk walk away.
