Yes vote from me, but Bruce's first signing must be Verheijen

We have good, decent players in our ranks and if our injury list was in line with the PL average the consensus would be that we'd need 4 to 5 signings not 8.

Hence, sign Verheijen (or, more easily, adopt a Verheijen approach) and we could save ourselves 3 signings in future!

I voted yes. We have a relatively young side but hopefully, as they grow up together, the results will improve. As Mackem911 said many teams have bad runs during the season. You can even include Man U in that. A couple of times this season they went two games without a win in the league!!!

Wow! When I went to work this morning, it was 1/3 Yes and 2/3 No. I get back from work and it's almost 50/50!

I smell corruption! Who has been offering bribes? Have you offered to rent out Osca Syd? ;)

I think people have had time to calm down after the weekends debarcle. I wonder how this poll would have gone, if I had posted it on Saturday night?

However, some very good arguments on both sides and although I have lost faith in SB and voted no, I can understand some of the guys reasons for wanting to keep him. If I'm honest, I really hope that SB proves all of us 'no's' wrong, because I have nothing against him as a person.

I'm a 'yes' man, I think he'll learn from this season's mistakes, and the inevitable strengthening of the playing staff in the summer should hopefully give us the pre-Christmas results all season long...

Maybe I'm being naive and too optimistic, and I accept and agree with a lot of the reasons given by people for suggesting we get rid. But I just think we should give him the next season to learn from this season- if we're in a similar position in May 2012 then it will be time to say goodbye!

My vote has also made it a 50-50 split :)

Split the fans 50/50 which is no good for the club.Finish with less points and in a lower place than last season is not moving forward in my opinion(but then, what the **** do i know).Been following this club for 34 years so nowt surprises me about it anymore.

If you lads are still backing him after 4 points out of 33 then what would it take?

If we don't gather another point between now and the end of the season then his position is untenable don't you think?

A pretty astonishing result really with us split straight down the middle. If we took these percentages to a full SoL that would be half the stadium against his tenure as our manager. What finally did it for me was his admittance to pulling the plug on a deal to bring in a striker during the last transfer window. Back in January I posted this.....

"I simply cannot believe that SB will risk going into the next 5-6 games with only Gyan fit. God forbid, but what do we do if Gyan gets injured on Tuesday night? Go with Healy up front on his own against the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Everton? I don't think so!

We all know what goes on in football. If you were the manager of a team and knew that your next opponents only had one fit striker, would you get your team to target that forward, knowing that there was no sub striker of any use available?

IMHO It would be utter madness to even consider it!"

The first half of the season showed just what we are capable of. We were playing some wonderful football and holding our own against some of the best teams in the league. This was our chance to finally achieve something after decades of failure, but it was taken away from us for a number of reasons.

Yes, injuries played their part, as did the loss of form of a number of our players, but the failure to sign another striker was a huge mistake, for which we are now paying the cost. No team can win a match without the ability to score goals. It is well known that our midfield players are not regular scorers, which is why we depend on strikers more than most other teams in the PL.

Steve Bruce has his work cut out to win back the support of wavering fans; however, faith is not set in stone. Faith can be just as easily restored, as lost.

I sincerely hope he goes on to restore my faith in him.
