But although we seem to have major problems at the moment, and you can bask in the glory of your league position....lest not forget, who have been on top in the past few seasons..(although that is about to change). Just to elaborate, when you remove the loanees and sold players which gave good results over the last season or two, these are the gaps Bruce has had to eventually fill: Welbeck Onouha Mensah Muntari Ferdinand Bent Gyan Zenden Henderson Malbranque That's a LOT of players (10), some of them absolutely key to a good squad. It might look like Bruce splashed the cash this season to continue onwards and upwards, but in reality he was just trying to fill as many gaps as he could with the money he had. A few of the purchases are an improvement, but some of them aren't, and some of them haven't even been replaced full stop.
Really I get annoyed with these mightier than thou mags having a pop at the team as it's open season on the team BUT to be on their high horses over our fans antics is taking the piss! The behaviour of our fans has been no where near that of the scum up the road in relegation season and seasons before. We have thus far this season had a few Bruce out chants when we were 2-0 down to West Brown after 4 minutes and Some abuse at Bruce when Wigan scored and frustration went through the roof. No stupid parades, boycotts, demonstrations etc. Oh and please Chapparz (the man obsessed with all things Sunderland) don't tell us we are blaming Bruce for Newcastle success and that we can't compete with you and we only want Bruce sacked because you are doing well. Christ you are so far up your own arse that you can tickle your own tonsils! SAFC UNDERACHIEVED last season under Bruce once again we are UNDERACHIEVING this season. Are you seriously telling us that if we were 6th but 15 points behind we'd be up in arms........try growing a brain and get real!

Some people pay more attention to players and teams than others. I can name the XI of your team, as well as most other teams like Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and so on. PS: You've gotta admit though, after looking at that list the players which need replacing is a lot larger than most would realise.

My point is that these are the players you had (at least at some point) who have helped you get good decent results over the last few seasons. However, they've now all gone (apart from Gyan who is temporarily gone at least) so Bruce would have to at least fill close gaps with players of better quality to better last seasons results.
Welbeck Bendtner: on paper Bendtner older, more experience, playing 1 up front hasnt helped him mind Onouha Never replaced Mensah, Brown: Brown for me, i know some wont agree but meh Muntari: wasnt really in the team long enough and when he was, was pretty pants, didnt help we were on a losing streak though Ferdinand: daft to sell him, and again Bramble hasnt helped matters. Bent: very hard to replace him, well not him but his goals, there isnt that many strikers that can score 24 goals in the PL Gyan: Went after the close of the window, so couldnt do sod all about it, lets see in January Zendan, Vaughen: Zendon so far, but hopefully Vaughan can come good. Henderson, Larsson Larsson for me, better delivery, Henderson was faster though. Malbranque Elmo Both could not score in a brothel, but steed was better at keeping a hold of the ball and getting others into play. So for me, we have (overall) better players, apart from the big one, Bent and his goals.
Just read todays Sunderland echo and inside Mick ' the pen' Brown wrote and article which made me cringe. He said Bruce was a success at the other clubs he has managed? ha ha, and does not deserve the abuse, well we have been patient for about 50 odd years as supporters (me 30 years) and in that time we have had the wrong chairmen getting in the wrong managers getting in the wrong players and this regime included now. We do not have to have a 98,000 seater stadium, or Messi type players or be in the champions league every season, but we have to get started NOW. What has been achieved since Niall took over in 5 years ?, is the next 5 years going to be the same ?. I like Niall and i know he wants success like all of us but inexperience comes to mind. Maybe he should have spent a year at Spurs or Arsenal first learning what they have achieved. We have to stop buying sub top 6 side players as well. It is nowadays going to cost a fortune for a (quick fix) so to speak, but in the long term the academy should be bringing through more Jordan hendersons and Jack colback's and Ryan noble's (and i say get him in the team at wolves). And i do not care where Bruce is from (Bob stoke could have been born in St james park) for all i care but he is a hero here, and we await the next hero at this club, and who will it be ?.

Steve for example if SB had paid the 13m for PD Cisse (Which was how much his club wanted for him in the summer) he could have got us goals. SB cant say he did not have the money we got 24m off Bent & 20m of Henderson only the henderson was spent in the summer. But no SB ****ed about and all we got was Bendtner who is a good player but he cant do it by himself. SB ****ed this up he decides who he wants to sign & going into a PL season with 1 proven PL forward (Bendtner who could maybe get us 10 goals this season) & 2 unproven (Ji & Whickham) is ****in stupid P-45 for Mr Buce Please Ellis.
I heard on transfer deadline day, that we were selling Ferdinand, so we could buy a striker, and Cisse and Gignac were rumoured. All Bruce can do is go to Short and ask, can i have him and him and him please, then Short can either say Yes, No, or you will have to sell first, which the latter he presumably did and has since he bought the club. I personally think Short has a hell of a lot to answer for, but it seems i am in a minority on this.
A little fact maybe, but a true one... So are you implying when you finish above us this season, you will take not an ounce of satisfaction?
