i think sunderland will live to regret this. it will cost a fair whack to get rid of brucey and he's a fine manager, the players are there to turn it around and getting someone like hughes or oneill in wont come cheap!
latest odds Ian Dowie 2/1 Martin O'Neill 5/1 Mark Hughes 8/1 Rafa Benitez 14/1 Lee Clark 14/1 Bob Bradley 16/1 Dave Jones 16/1 Steve McLaren 16/1 Carlo Ancelotti 16/1 Ole Gunnar Solskaer 16/1 Stuart Pearce 20/1 Alan Curbishley 20/1 Marcello Lippi 20/1 Sean O'Driscoll 20/1 Gareth Southgate 20/1 Guus Hiddink 25/1 David Moyes 25/1 Glenn Hoddle 25/1 Sven-Goran Eriksson 33/1 Gianfranco Zola 33/1 Peter Reid 33/1 Roy Keane 33/1 ok ok i lied about dowie but the usual suspects are there like sven, southgate,Curbishley so you can discount them i guess
god knows he's not exactly **** and a lot better than some on there if i was going to have a daft £10 bet i'd put it on Bob Bradley at 16/1
quids in! £5 bet after the BRighton game was worth every penny ! I may stick it all on Mark Hughes...got a feeling...
Sunderland have parted company with their manager, Steve Bruce, after chairman, Ellis Short, described results this season as "simply not good enough". Last Saturday's home defeat to Wigan left Sunderland 16th in the Premier League, just two points above the relegation zone. Bruce had insisted he had no intention of walking away from the Stadium of Light, despite fans again calling for his head at the weekend. In a statement released on the club's official website, Short said: "This has been a difficult time for everyone at Sunderland and is not a situation that any of us envisaged or expected to be in. "It is my job as chairman to act in the best interests of our football club at all times and I can assure everyone that this is not a decision I have taken lightly. "Sadly results this season have simply not been good enough and I feel the time is right to make a change. "Steve has acted with honesty and integrity throughout, which is testament to the character and commitment he has shown during his time at Sunderland. "I would like to personally place on record my thanks to him for his significant contribution to our football club over the past two and a half years and everyone here at Sunderland naturally wishes him the very best for the future. "I would also like to thank our fans, who have endured a trying start to the season. Their support continues to be the driving force behind our club and is vital as we now look to the future."
Sad day, not saying he didn't deserve to go but the moronic statements of glee on here make my stomach turn. It could get a lot worse before it gets better, relegation a probability rather than a possibility now I fear.
I applaud your honesty in this opinion, and I too thought it wasn't right to sack Bruce for this very reason. Unless Short manages a coup within a quick amount of time I think there could be tougher times for Sunderland yet.
Well, I was wrong. He isn't going to be here till 2014. Gotta say I'm relieved. Steve Bruce brought us on from where Roy Keane left off - sure. But I think he'd gone as far as he could. He played the transfer market brilliantly for us, but that's of limited use when you can't keep them. The type of hoofball played was always going to drive the best signings out again. And it did. You're a basically decent man, Steve. Good luck. But I just think you'd reached your limitations with Sunderland, and can't say I'm sorry to see you go. To honest, I'm effing delighted. Piss up tonight, I think. Hmmm.
