IMO and in light of a recent publication, the only thing motivating this squad currently is a £5 million promotion bonus and likely clauses in contracts in regard of salary increases and bonuses should that be attained. Nothing else IMO is motivating them.
Harsh to paint them all with that brush. We shall only know for sure come May 7th after the 46th game has been played. However in light of what has gone on in Brussels this week it really does not matter what happens on a football field when all is said and done. imo.
Difficult to blame the players too much. They play in front of a quiet and critical crowd, modest in size given our good season so far (for reasons well documented on here). For a foreign player or one from another part of the UK, it must be difficult to develop an affection for our club at the moment. No leadership off the pitch, fans alienated and divided etc
Reports in the Midlands atm suggest that Aston Villa want Nigel Pearson as manager/head coach with Chris Powell as his no.2 I don't expect Steve Bruce to get it. twt as always.
So unless Bruce resigns we are stuck with him ?. The Allams will never sack him, which considering how they ruthlessly sacked Barmby on some ludicrous trumped up charge confuses me. Surely they can see the team has massively underperformed this year & the person who has to take the blame is the person they pay a lot of money to manage the team & get results ? They could have sacked him midway through 2014 season & got Pulis in but didn't. They could have sacked him last summer after our needless relegation from The Prem but didn't. We now have a team that should have got auto promotion this season (do Burnley, Midds or Brighton have better squads than City or just better managers?) left to battle through the playoffs to try to gain promotion That is what I can't accept & why Bruce has failed as manager & should be sacked in the summer.
I'd sack him now. We've NO chance of going up while he's in charge. In fact the odds of the playoffs are getting longer every match. Catastrophic blindness by the Allams. How many tens of millions will Bruce have cost them????
What complete and utter bollox ^^^^^^^ this. 2 things have cost us (one certainly) and the man to blame is Ehab Allam not Steve Bruce. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good old fashioned rant and hissy fit eh ?
I dont think there's any debate that over the full season Hughton has been the best manager in the division. over the past 6 weeks its Colin!
Ok so this isn't a Bruce to Villa rumour, but it does concern Bruce and I didn't want to start a new thread relating to Bruce. Bruce has recently been called in to explain to the Allams what has happened to the teams performances over the last 6 weeks or so. As much as I'm sure these meetings are kept in house as to what's been said I thought I'd just tell folk what his response apparently was. He politely explained to the Allams that if they hadn't insisted in paying for Andre Grey in instalments then we would already be promoted, then he walked out. This is from someone who works at the club, not a cleaner or anything like that. Are they reliable, well I trust them, it's up to you if you find this bollox or not. I don't proclaim to have inside knowledge or anything.
