You mean this Wikipedia? "Aston Villa Football Club (/ˈæstən ˈvɪlə/; also known as Villa, The Villa, The Villans, The Lions)[4] is a professional football club based in Witton, Birmingham, that plays in the Premier League, the highest level of English football."
Or, you know, just know that fact. Or have uni friends who live in Witton. Or have visited that ground at least twice. But sure. Wikipedia.
I'm scrabbling around trying to find a **** to give about the whole situation. In the interest of fairness, next time I'm in Leicester and somebody asks who I support, I'll just say City, happy?
I politely asked him to call us City, Hull City or The Tigers on a Hull City message board. I don't think its a big deal if he doesn't, just a little rude.
Do keep up you ****ing nugget - no two City fans ever said ''are we going to Hull tonight?''. The argument isn't about what the rest of the country calls us, they can call us what the **** they like. So, you meet up with your friends (not your Faecesbook friends btw) do any of them ever say to you ''are we going to Hull?'' You ****ing know they don't.
No issue with anything you've said mate! Always more than willing to respond appropriately to those who make a similar effort in return. I disagree slightly on it being rude - unless I was doing it deliberately on the wind up as I did last night while slightly pissed, which I agree was rude - but when a genuine error I think it's just that. I do try to call us City whenever possible.
I don't agree with everything you say Syd, as you'd probably expect, but I fully agree with this. To get wound up by any of our supporters calling our club Hull appears to me petty, juvenile and quite frankly pathetic.
Well no, they don't. But a couple of people on a message board are hardly an indictment of our entire fan base are they? Why's it worth getting hacked off about?
Actually some in here have cited the media's use of Hull as the exact reason why they're so angry about it as it 'demeans us' despite all other clubs being referred to by only their location (Leeds, Stoke, Norwich, Swansea, Cardiff, etc.) unless they have another football club within their city (Bristol City, Manchester City, etc.).
You're right - I really should learn to ignore the plastic **** from Sydney, but, I'm of an age where I've seen ''Hull'' fans putting the boot into Hull City - if you were a bit older and seen the arseholes from the Boulevard supporting our opponents at BP you'd probably hate the Hull mantle as much as I. It's red rag to a bull i'm afraid.
I don't think anyone would find it inoffensive and you know that full well. The notion that anyone would consider a supporter of a club like Hull City AFC to be a plastic is absurd.
Well I haven't. In my lifetime the rugby club wasn't really a big deal where I lived but then neither was the football club. I was one of the few City fans, but nobody my age was into rugby so to me Hull always referred to City.
So when you're on this board use City and not Hull then. Listen to the real fans who actually live in Hull and go to City, the ones who didn't have a choice in supporting city cos it's their local team, you may learn something.
