To be fair Chappaz, I back what Bruce is saying you were out played in the first half, the second half was more even and a fair result would have been a draw.

You did outplay us, but even in the half we were outplayed we still should have had a goal thanks to a top effort from Barton, but Larsson saved it. In the second half, we then had a free kick which eventually got us the goal we very much deserved.

I don't really believe in this 'we deserved' or a 'fair result' thing. It LOOKED like we were outplayed, but our defensive unit kept you guys out and kept a clean sheet, so overall, can we really be considered truly outplayed?

Yeah Larsson is really an awful sportsman, may I draw you mind back to a game at St James a couple of years back, Sunderland leading 1-0 thanks too Cisse only for a truly awful dive in the area by no other Steve Taylor who game finishes 1-1 and we were robbed.

This isn't some comparison. If I think Larsson is a cheating bastard I don't see the significance of saying "well Taylor did this". I know he did, and that was very poor sportsmanship as well. Right now though I'm only talking about Larsson. I'm not trying to score points with you guys.

I honestly think a fair result was a Newcastle win...

They scored. We didn't. What was it Terry 'Yoda' Venebles said... "I'm a firm believe that in order to win a game of football you have to score more goals than your opposition.

That said our performance in regards to build up was decent, if we don't score... We won't win though.

I agree. We got one and the football was heading for the net before Larsson managed to get his arm in the way. Numerous genuine chances aside for both teams, it should have been 0-2.

The more gracious mackems have accepted this, but there are still a few who can't.

I've still not had seen a replay of the free kick that was given which led to the goal, but from where I was sitting in the stadium (pretty close to the incident), I thought that Jonas appeared to lose his balance and fall over: I could be wrong though...
what I am a little more sure about is that the ref pushed the two man wall back way more than 10 yards...He actually counted 14 strides from the ball to where he made the wall retreat to.

Chappaz - you've watched 50% of our games - We have only had 2 games as have most in the EPL (except Everton and Spurs) so to say you "haven't watched many" is obvious - there haven't been many.

As for Gardner being reduced to sub and cup appearances - we haven't (yet) played a cup game. Colback has played well so you can't drop a player just because we've signed someone else - I may have played Gardner on Saturday but don't argue with Bruce playing Colback instead as he was awesome against Livepool
As for the blocked on the line incident - did you fail to mention that Ameobi fouled Ferdinand in the incident which led to the corner and that Ameobi also headed the ball onto his own arm prior to Barton having the ball "cleared" off the line?? Thought you would miss those (the Ameobi one is difficult to see and I had to slow down the slow motion replay to be honest but it hit his arm after his head) - so all in all this would even itself out - had the original Free-Kick (which was almost identical to numersous incidents which ended up being a free-kick to Newcastle) before the corner been given then the penalty incident would never have happened

Coloccini has his leg almost broken - until he sees that Phil Bardsley is getting sent off and suddenly gets up and runs away - WITHOUT EVEN A LIMP - Cheat - Joey Barton gets more protection than any player I've ever known - he chased the ref a number of times and was in his face - almost refereeing the game himself, and never got spoken to by webb at all - Our players argue their case once and get a dressing down. Barton should have been booked for his antics long before the bust up with Bardsley - Gutierrez is a cheat, Barton is a cheat and Coloccini is a cheat - look at your own before calling our players

The free kick mmmmm well was it? Jonas goes down VERY EASY nobody touched him but he did that all game. You were outplayed but scored a goal which means you won but your team didn't play well.

chappaz i agree larsson should have gone and i haven't seen the replay but 1 of my mates reckons ameobi handballed in the box leading to barton's header, did anyone else see it or is my mate just looking through red and white eyes?

You could have easy been down to 10 men also Cabaye could have gone for his shocking challenge on Bardsley, good thing Bardo seen it coming and had a chance to get out of the way or he could have had his leg broken, not condoning what he did to Collo it was OTT.

Bardsley wasn't even looking in the direction of Cabaye, so he didn't move his leg for the tackle. Bardsley lifted his leg up the air, Cabaye came in high and smacked it. I'm not condoning what Cabaye did either, but it was never close to a leg breaker like Colo's was. I'm amazed it didn't snap because it was planted in the ground and took the full force.

Have you just read what I said? You might have had better attacking and better midfield control for durations of the game (mostly in the first half) but you couldn't get through our defence, so as a whole team, you did not outplay us.

And why shouldn't the free kick have been? The player tripped Jonas and he went down, clear as day. It's a shame that some players feel they have to resort to fouling Jonas as a last ditch attempt to stop him.

Honestly some of the straw clutching is dire here. We could argue all day long but the one simple, solid, undeniable fact is that Larsson blocked a goal-bound Barton header with his arm. It should have been 0-1 to us, or it should have been a red card for him and a penalty to us - it depends on which way you look at it.

In any case my Saturday was made better by finding out that the wife is expecting HAPPY DAYS!!!

Chappaz, you won, why are you bothered about Larssons non penalty so much....Enjoy your victory, gloat if you must, but decisions were made at the time, and can't be reversed.

I blame Taylor for diving to win a penalty, Larsson did it to stop a goal both cheated...

My opinion, Jonas dived nobody touched him thats how I seen it when I watched in on footy first.

Anyhow no point really going on about it whats done is done.
