Ultimately he failed at City - he got us relegated with the biggest spend in the club's history, the team underperformed the next season, he ****ed up Europe, he dropped players to pick his son and then he threw his toys out of the pram because he couldn't have another bumper budget - he played some of the ****est negative football I've seen in years, his tactics of either taking all the attackers off if we were winning or throwing them all on if we were losing was Sunday League at best - he went to Villa with by far the best squad in the Championship - he ****ed up last season and he's totally ****ed up this season - he deploys exactly the same negative tactics - his excuses are just the same, 'one of those horrible afternoons' 'we huffed and puffed' and blaming either the players or the fans for his failures - why the **** would anyone want him back - he's a ****ing Jonah

Yeah, but other than that? Shall I mark you down as anyone but him?

drivel. he lost in the playoff final last season and since then villa have had financial issues that have prevented him getting reinforcements.

Some on here just don't seem to get it. If he can't have a spending binge every window, he fails. Or walks.

Nicked from the Sunderland forum,

Poster, what happened to the cabbage?

Reply, He got sacked.

Remembered with great fondness up there, or something like that.

remind us when he last walked, other than with the extreme provocation of the chuckle brothers. with dosh, he's a fair bet for championshion escape. admittedly his prem record is feeble.

Best manager that ever lived.

As if it matters. Just look at the players he’s had to manage in his time at Villa. He’s flat out failed, being in the playoffs was a failure. That team he had last season was head and shoulders above any team that had ever played in this division, Newcastle and our own ridiculously strong 15/16 side included.

Why does the fact that he’s a liar, a cheat and a fraud always get overlooked even by those who purport to dislike him?

He’s a ****ing bellend of a man, that’s the biggest issue far above anything football related.

When Sunderland sacked Steve Bruce they were 16th in the Premier League, since that time they've had unparalleled success.

Sacked by Sunderland after his, oft repeated forte here, post New Year collapse. In his short spell there something like 30 players were signed or loans.

Nor did he have a Plan B.

All sound a bit familiar?

Fantastic to see him back in work so quickly. Can't keep a good man down.

it was indeed. He was really good. The dancing dinner ladies added a bit of cabaret, going in the audience wiping us down with mops.
He played classics such as Queen Victoris knob'! 'Dead is punk' and 'the Gothic postman'.

Met him a few times in Liverpool 'round the new millenium time. Remember him booking bands at the Masque theatre.

Had a brief chat with him after the gig. First time playing in Hull, but as you say he’s clearly been around a looooooong time.
They were heading from Anlaby to play at a Butlins Alternative weekend in Skegness. That did sound a good weekend I have to say, even though I imagine there’s a gradual decrease in original band members every year! (UK Subs, Spear of Destiny, Sham 69, Exploited, Boomtowm Rats, Rezillos, Bad Manners, New Model Army...and Pete Bentham)

After a gig in Stratford East London, many MANY moons ago, early band days, I honestly think my now partial hearing loss was set on its way from being by the main speakers for a couple of hours or so. ****ing great times. One of the best bands, period, ever, good to see they're still going strong. I better re-immerse myself.
