So long as we beat L**ds, everyone will be happy. Hopefully when Leicester come to the KC, we can exact our revenge :emoticon-0116-evilg

Erm, 3-5-2 has a weakness in the wide berths, and Leicester exploited that weakness, surely you're not that thick. The same as a 4-3-1-2 or other narrow formation offers opportunities to the opposition out wide. 4-4-2 has its weakness in the middle of the park when teams cram 3 or 4 central midfielders in there, but it's not a weakness like 3-5-2 which literally gives the opposition the edges of the box with no defender covering, at least in a 4-4-2 there's still 2 people in the middle and it's a very well balanced all round formation. These 'abnormal' formations as you say offer a lot more fluidity, movement and numbers going forwards.

If formations didn't have differences, everyone would just play a 10 wouldn't they <doh>

    You've completely missed the point.

I'm well aware that formations have differences, but they're nowhere near as important as everyone thinks and any football manager will tell you that.

Like I said, it was blatantly obvious to anyone who went to Leicester that we lost the game because we couldn't keep the ball. Our passing was appalling and no system is more important than the very basic things like passing. Against Peterborough we played them off the park and lost because their attack was more effective than ours. I'm open to debate as to why that was, but it really isn't as simple as every time we lose a game it must be the system's fault. There are loads of more important factors than formations. Barcelona don't win because they play a 4-3-3, they win because they're ****ing ace at football.

Blaming everything on formations just suggests a lack of understanding.

Just seen the goals & they were all piss poor defending errors, simple as that, but a positive is that Simpson took his goal really well.

If the system is played correctly a 532* doesn't have any inherent weakness to a single attacking player out wide. Assuming the attack comes down our left it's Dudgeon vs the winger as normal, with 3 marking 2 in the middle. Assuming the ball is played in behind Dudgeon then he should be treated as a left winger in a 442 as the side adapts to the situation. Bruce is supposed to move over to the LB position, with Faye and Chester coming across with him, and Elmo dropping in to make a flat 4.

*We're playing wing backs not wingers, if we were playing 352 then when the ball was played wide of the centre backs Bruce would still be going out to the left, but it would be a central midfielder dropping into the defence rather than Elmo, and they could either drop in at RB or alongside Faye at RCB with Chester moving out to RB.
