How can you "make sure your name isn't in the envelope" if the names are already written down? .....hence there are no names in the envelope, its just an old skool style method of motivating players to perform and think about their performances during the season.
attempting logic and failing.. listening to rodgers you know he's a bullshitter but more than capable of actually putting names in those envelopes.. and beleive me players laughed at him when he was waving them about. the thing is no matte how much you insist theres nothing in there you simply can;t know if there is or isn't.... admit it!
Not sure why you're having a hissy fit over this, but the method has been used many times before by various coaches and at the end of the season he will open the envelopes and show three blank pieces of paper. However if you want to get all touchy and see it as a dig then go ahead.
please log in to view this image nearly..... he can't admit it can he? he's just guessing about those envelopes.... and rodgers is a clown for pulling any stunts that forment lack of trust between players
MITO... I'm mixed on it. On one hand I think it could motivate them but then I wonder why any of them would fall for it, this makes me think "they're footballers" It wouldn't surprise me if Rodgers did actually put name sin though
Ah i see, you're clearly rather simple and taken this the wrong way, as it wasn't any sort of dig at rodgers, however only a clown manager would use such a trick? All rodgers has done, is used a different variation and will admit to the players there are no names.
But if Fergie had put names in, why would he say he had? He would then have to reveal who they were and risk the said players revealing his deep and dark "secrets"...?
nearly nearly.. i keep going i think he'll really start insulting me. so rodgers is only using the ferguson handbook of management then... good to know... once he starts bribing refs and taking bungs we'll be better off.
Well the whole idea is just to make players think about their performances and yes, "why would anyone fall for it", yet we're talking about footballers here and it doesn't take much to confuse them.
I understand the envelope theory but if I was a player I would think it was stupid. With that being said I certainly wouldn't let it be me though!
Also add in a full-stop after 'Sturridge'. Not to mention 'this year' is now 2013, whereas Allen was bought in 2012. Should we have to work that hard to decipher what the **** the guy is trying to say?
That's where I slip up, I wouldn't really give a **** if my name was there But, nor am I a professional footballer!
It's merely setting a negative standard in the players heads. Its not important if there are names in the envelopes or not. What a player really doesn't want to overhear is their fellow players saying HIS name should be in one. Does it cause division? maybe but It should only cause division between those working their bollox off and those lazy bastards who aren't.....
True. I'm not sure too many of our players aren't working hard enough. Downing maybe - he is just soft, and Gerrard at times is lazy. But I don't think its effort usually, its quality that we lack.
