He's a great signing. Strong, committed and has that experience that will be vital in a midfield full of relatively young players. I'm looking forward to seeing some hefty challenges, though hopefully not as horrible as this one:

im really happy with this signing and to see him smash a manure player like that makes it all the better

i have a feeling he is planning to play clayton there, i'd prefer him to sign someone though

Open minded to the signing, I haven't seen much of him if I am honest but plenty of other leeds fans seem to think he is decent enough. For his position I cannot see that age will be a problem, a little concerned as to why he isn't good enough for Portsmouth but we shall see.

ristac, it wasnt he wasnt good enough for Pompey, his contract stipulated he was in for a pay day if he played again for them & they arent in the situation to offer him the prevoiusly proposed deal <ok>

Pompey were after a fee in Jan,and he came on the pitch for some award at half time v Leeds to a hero reception from Pompey fans.Think he could be just what we need.

I can't really comment on how he'll play, but always been a fan of him when he was younger. Intelligence & commitment compensated for average ability and some top managers have valued highly. How he'll play at 35 is another question.

I do disagree with the comments about him running down his contract at Pompey without playing a match. If he feels he can play at a good level for another couple of years but knows it'll be difficult to get the money in that time, I can't really blame him for wanting to collect enough money for him to focus on his performance at his new club whilst training with a good squad at a decent level until he makes a move in the summer.

Will trust SG on this one, I think if Brown has the right attitude and the wages aren't ridiculous, it'll come good.

He still was great whenever I've seen him play recently. He just runs around, snapping at people's ankles - exactly the sort of player we need in our midfield alongside Howson, Snoddy and Gradel. He also is a much better player technically than Johnson and Kilkenny.

He didn't run down his contract without playing a game either - there was a clause in his contract that meant Pompey couldn't afford to play him.
