You got the impression that it was all about the singer who just wanted to be a white Michael Jackson (before Michael Jackson became white) and they had to find something for the other twin to do. They were quite sh.it but no worse than any other boy band before or since and it is more about style over substance as far as teenies are concerned.
Jet Black was a classically trained jazz drummer so Kimono adorned ST is talking out his arse as usual. But hey Davie Bowie was an incredible guitarist/saxophonist/pianist, not.
Charlie Watts was meant to be a great jazz drummer too but you wouldn't know it listening to the Stones, what a jammy git getting that gig. I suppose he plays for the song rather than being the centre of attention and Keef swears by his stick skills. Never seen a less dynamic drummer though, makes Jet Black look like Animal from the Muppets in comparison.
You and Fingers are on fine form today. Karen Carpenter was the best drummer and also had the most beautiful voice. Even my hero John Lennon said so.
Agreed, Bonham was THE greatest rock drummer there ever was. Probably better jazz drummers I suppose but I don't listen to jazz so couldn't really say.
She had cancer iirc. Also did a stint as a Page 3 model, top set of tay tays by all accounts but she's not my type. One drop and that.
Drummer: Carmen Appice of Vanilla Fudge and Cactus ...... saw him with Beck Bogert Appice at the Caley Cinema in Edinburgh. Bros fillum; usually wouldnae mind seeing two c**ts making a-holes of themselves however the excerpts of their individual and joint performances made me f****n' ill.
