Out of interest, are you contemplating trying out "Bale style"? Or you could try "Hargreaves style" - asking to be pulled off after 5 minutes..

<laugh> I'd always go for the longevity move, reaching the peak towards the end.
It would have to be something like Dino Zoff style

Just as a side note as this thread is called broken hearts, said Edinburgh team of the same name is going into admin which is a shame. I think Spurs legend Dave Mackay was bought from them.

Looking at that line-drawing, anyone else thinking of a lady's private part? Or is it just me?

I was shocked tbh, forget what you're seeing, my first thought was Chimp feet!...why would he do that?? <yikes>

:)

You've not done your homework Billy, there's nothing wrong with what Bales done, its no different to CR7.

A hand gesture that's not a million miles away from Bale's, funnily enough:

Also, Paulinho:

Are we just trying to sign anyone who makes that hand gesture now? Bonus if they're also Brazilian?

I can only say that I agree. Football ceased to become a sport when it became a business. Clubs quoted on the Stock Market and tens of millions changing hands. Football has priced itself out of the market for me to go to matches now,I prefer to listen on the radio. It's the same with other sports like golf and tennis with huge prize money and they are as you say only sportsmen providing average entertainment. They foul and get booked and sent off, they dive and feign injury, get suspended and get £150,000 a week in some cases. It's pathetic but I still like the game and would be lost in the winter without it.

Great post TMT and fully agree. Sport in general has become completely sanitised, none moreso than football.

For me, football stopped being a sport in 1992 when the Premier League was created, it's a business now. Players banned for swearing (Rooney), players banned for kicking balls/ballboys (Hazard), then you have fines like the ones issued out to Bendtner.

Football now is a soap opera and scripted and such mantra is repeated often (via Sky) enough so that future generations also believe it. Man U play the protagonist that always overcomes all obstacles (Batman), Chelsea/City are the evil antagonists (Joker/Harvey Two-Face), Arsenal are the sidekick (Robin) and Liverpool are the auld superhero of the 80s, and it's just been decided everyone else outside this Oligopoly of clubs is just an extra in this soap opera and there is an expectation they must sell their best players and so forth.

I don't even bother watching most boxing nowadays, it's a joke. Any of the real heavyweights such as Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, would take on today's lot one after the other in the same evening - and beat them all.

The heavyweight division is ****e.
Froch v Kessler II was an excellent recent fight with a decent undercard, though.

Just heard on CNN that Ribery,Benzema and others were charged with paying for sex with an underaged Tom. The trial has been put back until next year. I didn't know this. Weren't we in for Benzema at one time? International footballers paying for sex. I'm not against it but with underaged Toms it's pathetic as this thread is all about.

Their defence seems to be that she claimed that she was 18. I think Reading had a better defence than that last season, frankly.
They had sex with her when she was 17 and the age of consent in France is a slightly worrying 15, but it's illegal to solicit a prostitute that's under the age of 18.

Any suggestion that Ribery was too busy being a Bond villain at the time is unfounded. Allegedly.

Zahia Dehar. She's now fairly famous in France and has her own lingerie line.
