Dont forget Vine and Cook on big money too doing nothing, as well as things like Rowlands £250k bonus for promotion.
I wouldn't begrudge Rowlands his bonus, he put a lot of his best years in for us when we were shyte and could've gone to bigger clubs...
The wage bill for 10/11 was £24.5m according to company accounts.......and that was before we bought any of the big boys, without releasing many of the others !!!
Still, it was insane without a clause stating he must play in half the games. What about Agyemang, he wanted a 3 year deal and GP gave him a 5 year contract and that cost us 7 figures while hes not even in the squad.
Was that just the player wages or the whole club? Read somewhere that it will be over £40m for this season, plus Hughes and entourage and I would imagine Rigg and Beard on big money. But we probably need to pay this to be competitive. Our income problem is gates receipts because of the ground capacity and relatively low merchandising because of the small fan base and lack of profile. TF has plans for both. It amuses me to see the outrage about players wages and the potential impact on the club. Of course they are ridiculous and the whole 'industry' is shameful, but the choice is pay for decent players and compete at a higher level or don't. How many of us would seriously say signing Cisse was a mistake because his wages put the long term future of the club at risk, we should have stuck with Dave? Not me, it's not my money and I want to see good players for what I do invest in the club through buying tickets. If it all goes tits up at some stage ho hum, the club will survive somehow and we'll start again.
It would probably be the football side of the club, so players, manager etc, maybe the stewards (needed for games to take place), shop girls (needed to sell merchandise as part of the revenue figure) etc. All the office staff though would fall under admin expenses in the accounts. If you're wanting a guide on wages though, when we got relegated our wage bill was £39M. We had Bullard on £45k, Geovanni on £30k, McShane, Kilbane, and Olofinjana on £25-30k each, so less than £10M between them, and everybody else was on less than £25k, so the not particularly unreasonable wages the rest of the squad and management were on soon added up.
