You will not find Marx advocating for top down totalitarian government. The nuclear, as opposed to extended family was identified by Marx as an easily exploited economic unit, which has become the norm during the industrial revolution. He didn’t suggest destroying it, he suggested strengthening communities in the face of atomisation and alienation by capitalism. Communism at it’s idealistic best was embodied by working class communities in industrial towns of Northern England and South Wales, before Thatcher declared war on them.
