Last time I looked, Sweden had about 10 times the deaths of neighbouring Norway, but that was only about 2,500 so pretty manageable numbers. And most Swedes seem happy enough with the more liberal approach of their government.

They haven’t just ignored it though. They have put restrictions and guidelines in place, just a lot looser than everywhere else. And their population is pretty spread out compared to places like the UK and Italy.

We’re on course to overtake Italy and top the death charts btw. The one positive for us is that, unlike Italy and France, our health system hasn’t been overwhelmed. The NHS still works, apparently.

New Zealand has had the most stringent lockdown and were quick to close their borders. They have had 19 deaths.

Sweden has not wrecked its economy and all the unintended consequences that entails to "save lives".

There are several ways to spin this but my take is that Sweden are achieving the coveted herd immunity, has not trashed their economy and ridden roughshod over basic human rights which is what I'd argue that most of us want and hold dear.

Countries who shut down will face wave after wave of this as the virus takes its natural course. 6 weeks in the house is bearable but what happens in three weeks when the next wave comes and the lockdown is 18 weeks?

I've yet to see any concrete evidence that lockdown works, seems we locked down and deaths shot up. Seems that the stay at home save lives stuff was already being done by care home residents who have now been ravaged by the virus.

NZ getting plaudits as if it's any way comparable with Europe or the USA. NZ is the same size as GB and has the same population as half of London.

When the planes start heading to NZ again, the virus will return.

But you're comparing Sweden to the UK, not NZ?

Sweden is just rocks. trees, snow and bears, no ****ing wonder they don't have to have a lockdown.

me and my homies are going to Malaga late June (don't tell mon) but they've given three incredible options.

    1. Rebook and get a 10% discount (meaning they'll put 10%+ on the price beforehand)
    2. Cancel the flights, get an Easyjet credit and a £150 thank you
    3. Wait till its officially cancelled and get a full refund.

Adding 0s would have no effect on the total.

Sweden has a similar population urban density to the UK, circa 85% meaning that 85% of Swedes live in towns and cities.
