In 2008 when Boris took over as Mayor during a Tory government there were 124 homicides, he got it down to 94 in 2014 and when he handed over to Sadiq in 2016 there were 108.

Sadiq in 2017 got it up to 118 , then 132 and last year smashed the record from 25 years to 149 homicides.

The London mayor gets an enormous budget and has many powers to combat crime but the first thing he did was end stop and search .
