Final insult for Bonnie Prince Charlie as site of his final defeat is added to slavery list.

Culloden, near Inverness, is known as the place where the Jacobite rebellion was finally crushed in 1746, but the battlefield overseen by the NTS has now become the first in Britain to be linked to the slave trade by an official body.

The site of Prince Charles Edward Stuart’s defeat has been included in a report into links between the slave trade and historic sites because the “the Bonnie Prince” received financial backing and a boat to Scotland from a businessman linked to the slave trade.

Another site found to have “intergenerational” connections in the new report is the birthplace of JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, a humble weaver’s cottage tht has been highlighted because the broader weaving industry produced clothing for slaves.

I used to enjoy reading Bangers & Mash books they were always up to mischief.

They are funny monkeys like Winnie the poo is a bear.

I never once looked at them and thought they were gentlemen from African descent or the leader of China before they were banned, I do now though.

'Just because somebody isn't following social-distancing rules doesn't mean they're not following social-distancing rules'. Satire aside, I'm sure I heard one of the PM's apologists recently actually say that. I mean it's not far off Camilla ****head's column in the Torygraph doing just that.

 

A few days ago I was talking to a mate of mine who had been made redundant after working for a company for a long time. They'd slashed their workforce by 75% because of covid.
He got a good pay-off. The funny thing is that they didnt take into account he was due to retire in 9 months and they could have kept him on until retirement and then let him go for nothing and they would have been able to pay him a lot less.
His girlfriend was also made redundant around the same time.
They've both got new jobs and practically all their wages can be used for having fun.
