It's a topic that really highlights their binary view of the situation. Nobody is advocating for closed borders, and even the lightweights can't seriously advocate for totally open borders, so the conversation should be around how it's managed. Given we have plenty of unfilled vacancies despite the numbers coming in, the current system clearly doesn't work. A points based system, that can be varied to accommodate needed skills and humanitarian needs seems doable. Of course the responses will be empty comments about the tories being in power for 12 years, as if that means anything. Oh, and they'll chuck in some bollocks about skin colour.
